A $22 Million CS2 Circuit Is Coming as PGL Reveals Tier 1 Program

The PGL CS2 Tier 1 Program was unveiled earlier today for the 2027/28 season. It promised a minimum total investment of $22 million. It offers a solid ecosystem with six Tier 1 LAN events each year, following PGL's traditional tournament format similar to Counter-Strike 2 Majors. By providing a fixed calendar and financial framework, the PGL Esports CS2 Tier 1 Program will help teams with roster planning, partnerships, and development.

Six Tier 1 Events Every Year

The circuit includes six LAN tournaments held each year for the two seasons. The main features of the CS2 PGL Esports Tier 1 Program are:

• 6 Tier 1 LAN events per year
• Traditional PGL format close to the Major
• Two-season-structured calendar
• Incentives based on performance, participation, and viewership

PGL CS2 Tier 1 Program will dedicate at least $11 million annually.

Yearly Prize Money.

• Players: $3,000,000
• Teams (club rewards): $3,000,000

Rewards are based on tournament positions.

Additional Team Revenue

The PGL Esports CS2 Tier 1 Program offers a generous $5,000,000 annual team revenue:

Club Share (Performance)

• $500,000 pool per event
• $3,000,000 annually (6 events)
• Distributed based on event placement

VRS Invite Bonus

• $400,000 pool for 4 events
• $300,000 pool 2 for events
• Paid to Top 5 VRS, ranked teams accepting invites
• If declined, the eligibility extends to the Top 12

Viewership Incentive System

The PGL CS2 Tier 1 Program adds a $2,800,000 annual viewership incentive. Teams get points based on CCV for each event:

• Top 14: 8 points
• Top 58: 4 points
• Top 912: 2 points

Points are multiplied by the number of events attended. The Top 16 teams share the $2.8 million pool.

Team Support and Standards

The PGL Esports CS2 Tier 1 Program lays down operational standards for teams:

• Travel for 8 team members covered
• Single rooms in 4-star hotels for players
• Practice rooms that match stage setups
• Updated PCs and optimised peripherals
• Only one Bo3 per team per day allowed
• Event credentials and ticket allocations for staff and partners
• Teams merchandise booths and fan engagement when available

The CS2 PGL Esports Tier 1 Program is scheduled for 2028, with six events starting Jan 1424, and tournaments will be added. Cities can collaborate with PGL to organise future events and bring global exposure to esports.
