FM26 Update 26.2 Preview Reveals January Transfers, UI Changes, and Major Fixes

The FM26 Update 26.2 Patch is scheduled to launch on select versions (PC, Console, and Apple Arcade) on March 9, 2020. Sports Interactive has confirmed that the focus of this upcoming patch will be the January Transfer Window, player data modifications, and a range of improvements to the gameplay experience. While the Football Manager update will first arrive for the main versions of the game, details about the rollout for mobile and Nintendo Switch editions will be shared later.

FM26 Update 26.2 Preview Introduces Massive Database Changes and Transfer Updates

One of the biggest highlights in the FM26 Update 26.2 preview is the database overhaul.

Database Changes

The developers confirmed that more than five million database changes have been made since the game originally launched. This includes revised rosters after the January transfer window, as well as adjustments to player attributes, Current Ability, and Potential Ability for thousands of players and staff in international leagues.

Additionally, updated official player headshots have been sent to licensed leagues, improving the visual authenticity of club squads. There is one restriction to be aware of, though. Transfers made for the 2026 season in some leagues that follow a calendar-year schedule won't show up until the end of the 2025 season.

Technical Fixes

In addition to the database changes, several technical fixes were made in the FM26 Update 26.2 preview. Numerous crash scenarios and stability-related issues have been reported and subsequently resolved in this update. Fixtures and Results

This tab now displays in full screen. It will help users see scheduling and match results more easily, especially during the busy season. Players can now also enable a preference that automatically shows these screens before and after matches in competitions they participate in after the FM 26 update 26.2.

Tactics Visualizer

The tactical nature of managing players has been improved with the ability to change a player's position and instructions directly from the Tactics Visualiser. Users can access the Tactics Visualiser via the Team Shape tab of both the In Possession and Out of Possession tactical screens.

Other Changes

• In addition to these improvements, other UI issues have been addressed in Football Manager 26. They include the correction of formation displays in matches and the improvement of sorting throughout squad-related menus.
• AI manager sackings will now have a bigger presence in the news feed, improving how league narratives can be followed.
• Players also reacted negatively to being moved to different clubs after their transfers were cancelled due to a work permit issue that has been fixed.
