Hirving began his career with Pachucha in 2016, winning the Clausura and the 2016-2017 CONCACAF Champions League, after which the big clubs came calling. PSV signed Hirving, and his impressive contribution there led to an iconic Serie A club, namely Napoli, signing him. Hirving performed well at Napoli for four years and rejoined PSV for a year in 2023 after ultimately joining San Diego FC.

Club Career

Pachuca: Hirving joined Pachuca in 2006 and worked his way up the ranks, eventually getting called up to the first team in 2014. He made his Liga MX debut in February 2014 against Club America, in which he came on as a substitute and scored just five minutes later. 2015 was a breakthrough year for Lozano, when he became a key asset for them, scoring multiple goals, helping Pachuca win the Clausura, and was named in the tournament's Best XI that year. Hirving also played a key role in Pachuca winning the CONCACAF Champions League in 2017. He scored two goals in ten minutes against Tigres UANL in the semi-finals to give Pachuca the lead. His eight-goal tally in the tournament not only won him the Golden Boot but also the Best Young Player Award. Overall, he amassed 149 appearances for Pachuca, in which he had 43 goals and 31 assists.

PSV: Hirving joined PSV in June 2017 after a lengthy transfer saga, which had seen clubs such as Manchester United, Ajax, and Benfica interested in signing him. He provided instant impact for the Dutch giants and scored in his first three games, making him the first player to do so. He was named Eredivisie Player Of The Month in August, which was just two months after joining the team. However, Hirving's best run of performances for PSV was during the 2018-2019 UEFA Champions League season. Hirving made his debut against FC Barcelona in the group stage, and despite losing 4-0, he was named in the league's best XI for the month. He scored his first UEFA Champions League goal against Tottenham Hotspur in a 2-2 draw in the group stage and also scored in a 1-1 draw against Inter Milan in the final group stage match of the season. His performances led to him making it to the Champions League breakthrough team of the 2018-2019 season. Overall, he amassed 124 appearances for PSV in which he had 51 goals and 28 assists.

Napoli: Hirving joined Serie A side Napoli in August 2019, and his transfer alone broke quite a few records. He signed a five-year contract with a transfer fee of $46.5 million. This made Lozano Napoli's most expensive signing at the time, alongside the highest transfer fee paid for a Mexican player, and the largest fee which PSV received for a player. Hirving's first season at Napoli was poor since Gattuso had just been appointed manager and did not give much playtime to the Mexican winger.

However, he did receive some playing time near the end of the season and won the Coppa Italia with Napoli, making him the first Mexican player ever to win an Italian title. The Mexican was great in his second season at Napoli, especially in the league, where he scored 11 goals in 31 appearances. Hirving's last season at Napoli, which was the 2022-2023 season, was great as well, in which he won the Serie A title with Napoli, making him the first Mexican player to achieve this. Overall, he amassed 155 appearances for Napoli, in which he had 30 goals and 17 assists.

San Diego FC: Hirving is currently playing for San Diego FC in the MLS, having joined the club in 2025 as their first Designated Player. Lozano signed a four-year contract till 2029 with the option to extend for two additional years. The transfer fee was reported to be $13 million, making it one of the top five most expensive transfers in MLS history. He has amassed 13 appearances for San Diego FC, in which he has five goals and four assists, and is a key player for them this season.

International Career

Hirving was ever present in Mexico's U19 side, especially the U20 side. He was called up to the U20 side for his first tournament, which was the CONCACAF U20 Championship, in which Mexico not only won it, beating Panama in the finals, but Lozano played a crucial role in it. Hirving scored five goals and had six assists, which led to him winning the Golden Boot in the tournament, alongside being named in the Best XI. He eventually earned his first cap against Senegal in a friendly match in 2016.

One of Hirving's best moments for Mexico's national team was during the 2018 FIFA World Cup, in which he scored the lone goal in a group stage fixture against defending champions Germany to secure a 1-0 win and was named Man Of The Match.
