Born on November 24, 2002, in Tiverton, England, Stansfield began his professional training at Exeter City before switching to Fulham at the age of 16. Yet to make his debut for the senior national team, Stansfield has represented England at various youth levels – U18, U20, and U21. Club Career

After graduating from the academy in Exeter, Jay Stansfield signed for Championship side Fulham for an undisclosed fee in August 2019. Four months later, Stansfield made his debut for Fulham in an FA Cup third-round match against Aston Villa, coming on in the 82nd minute for Josh Onomah. Later that month, he made his league debut as an 88th-minute substitute in Fulham's EFL Championship match away at Charlton Athletic, again replacing Josh Onomah.
