Jhon is a Colombian footballer who has spent much of his career hovering at clubs between Mexico and Colombia up until 2021 when he joined Brazil's Serie A team Fluminese, which is a big jump in his career. His exploits in domestic football led to him making his debut for the Colombian national team in June 2022 and ever since then, he has earned 29 caps, scoring three goals.
Jhon started his youth career with Mexican clubs, namely Dorados de Sinaloa and Tijuana, after which he returned to his home country in 2017, signing for Patriotas Boyaca. He was then loaned to Llaneros FC in 2018 on a short loan and then returned to Patriotas again. He was then regularly used at Patriotas during the 2019 campaign and then signed a contract with America de Cali in December 2019. After a year at America de Cali, Jhon joined Independiente Santa Fe in January 2021 but spent only six months there and then joined Fluminense. He played a key role in the squad that won the club's first Copa Libertadores, defeating Boca Junior 2-1 in the final. The Colombian winger had only managed to amass a few appearances, goals and assists at the majority of the clubs he has played at in his career, but his performances for Fluminese are truly different. Jhon has amassed 223 appearances for Fluminese across all competitions in which he has 46 goals and 54 assists. In the 2024-2025 season, he has amassed 28 appearances across all competitions, in which he has four goals and 12 assists.
