Martim Fernandes’s full name is Martim Moreira Moutinho Fernandes, with Moutinho being his maternal family name and Fernandes his paternal family name. He was born on 18 January 2006, in Valongo, a municipality located very close to the district of Porto. His parents realised the talent he possessed to play the beautiful game at an early age and joined him in the youth academy of Valonguense. He arrived at Valonguense in the under-9s, aged between 7 and 8, and played at a higher level, with kids a year older.
After honing his skills at the academy, to further develop his game, he moved to the academy of the Portuguese giants FC Porto at the age of 11, in the year 2017.
