Weiper was born in Germany to a German father (Klaus), His mother's name is not known, but we have the information that his mother is an Albanian, from the city of Kuçovë. He has already represented Germany at the U-17,8 AN U-21 squads. Due to his Albanian heritage, there is a good possibility that we might see him wearing the red and black stripes in the foreseeable future.
The Football Federation is said to have initiated talks not only with the striker but also with his family, to understand if he wants to wear the red and black. So far, Nelson has played wearing the black and white of Germany. He has made his way from a 17 and 18-year-old representative, to the 21-year-old team, where he was recently called up and played in the match against Spain.
Weiper is a traditional number nine, in the sense that he is a target man. He is physically very strong, and does not succumb under pressure . He is also able to lay off passes to teammates in better positions. Being a target man he is excellent at offensive headers, and is a good player to use in combination with classic wingers when playing long balls to play out of pressure, and when applying a direct or even one-route passing style.
He can both score goals as well as create chances for his teammates. He tends to drop deeper in build-up play to receive long balls. From there, he can pass to his teammates on the wings to contribute to Mainz’s game. Standing in at 192 cm, Weiper is a tall player. But he does not possess a slight frame, and has a very good body mass ratio, physical strength, power, stamina, and natural fitness. Moreover, he feels comfortable in contact situations. Weiper does not let his size cost him his movement on the pitch; he provides excellent pace, footwork, and coordination. He also has the great ability to hold up play with his back to goal. His sixth sense allows him to sniff out a goal in any situation/always alert to capitalize on defensive mistakes.
The 20-year-old does not just play up the pitch. He often moves deep into midfield and draws defenders with him. This helps him in exploiting spaces for his teammates. He also uses his height to jump higher than the defender to head the ball. Capable of taking shots from both feet, he is also very relentless in pressing the game
