Monza vs Roma Prediction, Preview, Lineups and Team News | Serie A, October 6, 2024

Preview

  • Date: Sunday, October 6
  • Kick-off Time: 4:00 pm GMT
  • Venue: U-Power Stadium, Monza, Italy

Monza will be welcoming Italian giants, Roma for a round seven clash in Serie A 2024/25 on Sunday. The hosts are unfortunately all the way down at the bottom of the league table with only three points in six games while Roma is climbing up the ladder, sitting at the ninth spot. The Monza vs Roma match displays all the signs of being a one-sided fixture but the hosts are capable of hurting the capital club on their day.

Monza’s position in the table is enough to get an overview of the club’s form. The club has managed just a single victory in the last six games accompanied by two draws and three defeats. The solitary win came in the Coppa Italia with the club still searching for the first win in Serie A. Monza has an interesting combination of talent and experience along with the guidance of Alessandro Nesta as the manager so the club will be disappointed with the displays so far.

For Roma, Ivan Juric has brought with him a complete change in his fortunes. The Croatian took over from Daniele De Rossi in the middle of September and has led the side to two league wins on the trot. Roma did suffer a shocking loss at the hands of Elfsborg in the Europa League on Thursday but the main focus of the coaching staff and the fans will be on improving their standing in the league. The capital club has scored seven goals in the last five matches.

Paulo Dybala could not feature in the last league game against Venezia. The Argentine was used as a second-half substitute in the Europa League this week. All signs point towards the 30-year-old getting the nod to start the match against Monza. The former Juventus man has once again found life in his game under Ivan Juric. Dybala will be keen to add to his league tally of a single goal this season. Paulo Dybala has a fruitful record against Monza with three goals and one assist in two appearances.

Artem Dovbyk (Roma)

Paulo Dybala’s creative skills will need the abilities of someone like Artem Dovbyk to secure the win for Roma. Over the last year and a half, Dovbyk has become a renowned name in European football owing to his performances in the Spanish league. The striker has three goals so far this season. His strength, physicality, and killer instinct make him one of the key players to look out for in the Monza vs Roma contest

Monza vs Roma Prediction

It will require a herculean effort from Monza to take anything from the game against Roma. The visitors’ away record this season will provide some hope to the hosts but Ivan Juric will be confident to decipher a comfortable win against Monza. His attackers’ clinical touch will determine how ugly the result can turn for the minnows.

Predicted Score: Monza 1-3 Roma
