Summary
Al Ahli arrived at the Al-Shaab Stadium with one thing on their mind to dominate their opponents. The 5-0 scoreline doesn't even fully capture the humiliation of Al Shorta, who were simply outclassed completely from the first whistle to the last.
Saudi side Al Ahli were sharp, incisive and clinical. The opening goal from Roger Ibanez on the half-hour mark was the just reward for their pressure. What stood out to us was how the home side just couldn't get a foothold in the game. Their passes were misplaced, their defensive shape was non-existent and their attack was toothless.
The second half was a procession. Ex-Brentford player Ivan Toney, who was simply unplayable all night, doubled the lead and then the floodgates opened. Goals from Galeno and substitute Saleh Abu Al Shamat followed in quick succession, turning a defeat into a humiliation for Al Shorta. The fifth goal was just salt in the wound, a final confirmation of a night to forget for the home team and a statement of intent from the visitors.

Here are the Al Shorta Player Ratings vs Al Ahli
Goalkeeper
Ahmed Basil Fadhil - 4.0: A truly horrific night for the captain. Conceding five goals is a nightmare for any keeper. While he made a couple of saves, including a decent one to deny Ivan Toney late on, he looked shaky and his distribution was poor, with only 38% of his passes finding a teammate. From our perspective, he seemed to lose all confidence after the second goal went in.
Defenders
Manaf Younis - 5.0: He racked up 7 clearances, which shows how much pressure the defense was under. However, he was part of a backline that was torn to shreds. He was dribbled past once and lost more duels than he won. It felt like he was constantly chasing shadows, unable to cope with the movement of Al Ahli's attackers.
Mehdi Ashabi - 5.0: Much like his defensive partner, it was a thankless task. He managed three tackles and a couple of interceptions but was ultimately overwhelmed. The defense lacked any sort of organization, and he couldn't do anything to stem the relentless tide of attacks. A difficult evening by any measure.
Hasan Raed - 5.5: Showed some bright sparks before being substituted. He was surprisingly effective going forward, with 100% crossing and dribbling success. However, defensively he was caught out, being dribbled past twice in his 65 minutes. A mixed bag, but he at least tried to make things happen.
Mustafa Saadoon - 5.0: He was busy, with 6 ball recoveries and a couple of interceptions. But he was another victim of Al Ahli's fluid attack. He was dribbled past and lost possession 11 times before being taken off. He simply couldn't handle the pace and trickery he was up against on the flank.

Midfielders
Mahmoud Al-Mawas - 6.0: One of the few Al Shorta players who looked like he could create something. He created four chances and had a couple of shots, though none troubled the keeper. His passing was tidy, but he faded as the game went on and was substituted. A decent effort in a losing cause.
Dominique Mendy - 4.5: A disastrous performance. An error leading to a goal is a cardinal sin, and it summed up his night. Despite winning a lot of duels and drawing fouls, that single mistake was catastrophic. It was a moment that killed any lingering hope for his team. We noticed his head dropped after that.
Hussein Ali - 5.5: He worked hard and tried to drive the team forward, making 5 passes into the final third. But his final product was lacking, losing the ball 16 times. He was energetic but ineffective, a summary of Al Shorta's overall performance. He just couldn't impose himself on the game.
Ahmed Farhan - 4.5: A really poor showing. He lost possession a staggering 17 times and was dispossessed on four occasions. His three shots were all off-target, and he offered very little creativity or defensive stability. It was a performance to forget for the midfielder, who looked completely off the pace.
Abdul Razaq Qassem - 6.0: He kept the ball well with a 92% pass accuracy and won most of his duels. He was one of the more composed players in the green shirt. However, his influence in the final third was minimal, and he couldn't protect his defense effectively enough. A tidy but ultimately toothless display.
Forwards
Leonel Ateba - 5.0: A frustrating night for the striker. He was isolated and starved of service. He missed a big chance that could have changed the early complexion of the game. Being caught offside twice just added to his woes. He worked, but nothing came off for him at all.

Bassam Shakir - N/A: Introduced when the game was already lost.
Mohammad Dawood - N/A: Had little time to make any difference.
Manager
M. Soliman - 4.0: His team was set up in a way that just invited pressure. They were defensively chaotic and offered no threat going forward. His substitutions did nothing to change the flow of the game. A tactical disaster against a far superior opponent.

Here are the Al Ahli Player Ratings vs Al Shorta
Goalkeeper
Abdulrahman Al-Sanbi - 7.0: A very quiet night for the keeper, which is the best compliment you can pay his teammates. He made one save and claimed a couple of high balls with confidence. His distribution was decent. He did everything asked of him to secure the clean sheet, which wasn't much.
Defenders
Roger Ibañez - 9.0: What a performance. He opened the scoring with a composed finish, a goal that set the tone for the entire match. Defensively, he was a giant, with 9 ball recoveries, 4 interceptions, and 3 clearances. He was composed on the ball and completely shut down any hint of an Al Shorta attack. A masterful display.
Ali Majrashi - 7.5: The captain led by example. He was a rock on the right side, winning an incredible 9 out of 15 duels. He was also a willing runner going forward, completing three successful dribbles. A solid, all-action performance before being substituted for a well-earned rest.
Merih Demiral - 7.0: Partnered Ibañez well at the heart of the defense. While he wasn't as spectacular as his partner, he was solid and dependable. He distributed the ball effectively from the back and made a couple of crucial clearances. Didn't put a foot wrong all game.
Matteo Dams - 7.5: An excellent outing for the defender. He was strong in the tackle, winning 6 of his 7 duels. He also showed his quality on the ball, making several passes into the final third. His one error that led to a shot was the only minor blemish on an otherwise commanding defensive performance.

Midfielders
Valentin Atangana - 6.5: A quiet but effective game in the middle of the park. He broke up play with three tackles and kept the ball moving. He didn't do anything spectacular, but he didn't need to. He provided the solid platform that allowed the attacking players to flourish. A classic holding midfielder's performance.
Galeno - 8.5: Electric. He was a constant threat on the wing, capping his performance with a well-taken goal and an assist. He was a nightmare for the Al Shorta defense, constantly running at them with pace. His performance was a key part of Al Ahli's attacking dominance before he was subbed off.
Fahad Al-Rashidi - 7.0: Had a lively 71 minutes. He was tidy in possession with 100% pass accuracy and had a couple of shots, one of which forced a save. He should have scored a big chance, but his overall contribution was very positive. He helped stretch the opposition defense effectively.
Matheus Gonçalves - 8.0: A creative force. He recovered the ball an incredible 12 times and was always looking to play forward. He got a deserved assist for the fourth goal and was a constant source of creativity. His dribbling and vision were a joy to watch.
Ziyad Al-Johani - 8.0: Scored a goal to put the icing on the cake. He was tidy and efficient in midfield, contributing both defensively and offensively. He made some key tackles and interceptions while also supporting the attack. A very well-rounded performance.
Forwards
Ivan Toney - 9.5: Absolutely unplayable. From our perspective, this was a masterclass in forward play. He scored a goal, provided two assists, and created three big chances. His movement, link-up play, and clinical finishing were on another level. The Al Shorta defense simply had no answer. The clear Man of the Match and the highest-rated player on the pitch.
Substitutes
Saleh Abu Al Shamat - 8.0: What an impact. Came on and immediately got an assist before scoring a brilliant goal himself. Couldn't have asked for a better cameo.
Zakaria Hawsawi - N/A: Came on late with the game won.
Mohammed Abdulrahman - N/A: Given a few minutes at the end.
Manager
M. Jaissle - 9.0: His tactical plan was executed to perfection. His team was ruthless, organized, and played with a fantastic attacking verve. His decision to press high and exploit the flanks paid off handsomely. A perfect night's work from the manager.
Sportsdunia's player of the match is Ivan Toney
