  • was the best player of the game

What a performance from Aston Villa. They absolutely dismantled AFC Bournemouth in this match, running out comfortable 4-0 winners. The game started with an unfortunate early injury to Bournemouth's captain Adam Smith , which seemed to unsettle the visitors. Villa capitalized on the disruption immediately. Emiliano Buendía opened the scoring with a wonderfully struck free-kick, and you could feel the momentum shift entirely.

Before the half was over, Amadou Onana added a second with a thunderbolt from distance, and the game felt done. Bournemouth were handed a lifeline in the second half after a handball by Morgan Rogers. But Antoine Semenyo saw his penalty brilliantly saved by Emiliano Martínez. That was the game's defining moment; it just sucked the life out of the Cherries. After that, Villa's subs came on to rub salt in the wounds, completing the rout.

Here are Aston Villa Player Ratings vs Bournemouth

Goalkeeper

Emiliano Martínez - 8.5: Absolutely colossal performance from the keeper. The penalty save from Semenyo was the turning point of the entire second half. He made 4 saves in total and his two high claims showed complete command of his area. What stood out to us was his confidence; he was a leader back there. A truly match-winning contribution despite the lopsided score.

Defenders

Matty Cash - 7.0: A typical, energetic display from Cash. He bombed forward when he could, even testing the keeper with a shot. Defensively, he was solid enough, making a couple of tackles and interceptions. He did get dribbled past once but his recovery pace is always an asset. A reliable performance.

Ezri Konsa - 7.5: Looked so comfortable at the back. He was calm in possession, with an 84% pass accuracy. Made 3 crucial clearances and won most of his duels without breaking a sweat. From our perspective, he reads the game so well you barely notice him, which is the sign of a top defender.

Pau Torres - 6.5: A quiet game for the Spaniard, but that's not a bad thing. He was neat on the ball with an 88% pass completion rate. He wasn't tested much defensively and lost his only real aerial duel. Did what was required of him, but his partners did most of the heavy lifting.

Lucas Digne - 7.5: His delivery was a weapon all game. He provided the assist for the third goal with a perfect corner. Constantly looked to get forward and put in 8 crosses. He was caught out defensively once or twice, but his attacking contribution more than made up for it.

Midfielders

Boubacar Kamara - 8.0: The silent destroyer in midfield. He did pick up a yellow card, but his defensive work was immense. He won 6 duels and made 3 tackles, providing the perfect screen for the back four. His composure on the ball (90% accuracy) allowed others to play with freedom.

John McGinn - 8.0: A true captain's display. He was absolutely everywhere, fighting for every ball. He won 7 duels, drew 4 fouls, and created 3 chances for his teammates. We noticed his relentless energy really set the tone for Villa's press. Substituted after a fantastic shift.

Emiliano Buendía - 9.0: Our man of the match. He was simply unplayable. He opened the scoring with a sublime free-kick and was a constant menace. He created two big chances, made three tackles, and recovered the ball five times. His energy and creativity were just too much for Bournemouth to handle.

Amadou Onana - 8.5: Scored a stunning goal from outside the box to give Villa a commanding lead. Beyond the goal, he was a powerhouse in midfield. He won 6 duels and made 3 tackles, dominating his area of the pitch. An almost complete midfield performance.

Forwards

Morgan Rogers - 5.5: A very mixed bag. He conceded a penalty with a silly handball, which could have been costly, and picked up a yellow. He worked hard and got into some decent positions but that moment of madness really brings his rating down. Lucky that Martínez bailed him out.

Ollie Watkins - 6.0: It just wasn't his day in front of goal. He worked tirelessly as always but missed a big chance and saw a couple of shots blocked. His movement was good, but he just lacked that clinical edge in this match. A frustrating outing for the striker.

Substitutes

Ross Barkley - 7.5: Came on and scored with a well-timed header. Made an instant impact.
Youri Tielemans - 7.5: Provided a lovely assist and looked tidy in midfield.
Jadon Sancho - 6.5: A few nice touches, helped see out the game.
Donyell Malen - 8.0: Scored almost immediately after coming on and looked dangerous.
Lamare Bogarde - N/A: Not on long enough to rate.
Evann Guessand - 6.5: Looked lively in his brief cameo.

Manager

U. Emery Etxegoien - 9.0: His game plan was executed to perfection. The team looked balanced, dominant, and ruthless. His substitutions were inspired, with two of them getting on the scoresheet. A tactical masterclass from the Spaniard.

Goalkeeper

Djordje Petrovic - 5.0: A difficult afternoon. He conceded four goals but was left horribly exposed by his defence. He did make four saves, but he couldn't do anything about the quality of Villa's finishing. A day he'll want to forget quickly.

Defenders

Adam Smith - N/A: Heartbreak for the captain, who was forced off with an injury just 10 minutes in. Impossible to give a rating.

Marcos Senesi - 5.0: He was incredibly busy, making a remarkable 13 clearances. However, he was part of a defensive unit that completely capitulated. He fought hard but was ultimately overwhelmed by Villa's relentless attack.

Veljko Milosavljevic - 5.5: Similar to his partner, he put in a real shift with 5 clearances and 4 tackles. He tried to stand firm but the floodgates opened. What stood out was his effort, but it wasn't nearly enough to stem the tide.

Adrien Truffert - 4.5: A really poor performance. He struggled against Villa's right side, picked up a yellow card, and was wasteful in possession. Hooked just after the hour mark after a torrid time.

Midfielders

Tyler Adams - 5.0: He was completely overrun in the midfield battle. His passing was neat (97% accuracy), but it was all safe and sideways. He offered very little in terms of defensive protection or forward thrust. A passenger, really.

Alex Scott - 6.0: One of the few Bournemouth players who can hold their head relatively high. He looked tidy on the ball and forced a good save from Martínez. At least he showed some fight and quality before being substituted.

Marcus Tavernier - 5.5: He tried to make things happen, creating three chances. But his final product was lacking and he gave away four fouls out of frustration. Lots of energy expended for very little reward. A frustrating watch.

J. Kluivert - 5.0: Largely anonymous for the hour he was on the pitch. He had a couple of nice passes but offered no real threat or penetration. From our perspective, he looked off the pace and was rightly substituted.

Forwards

Antoine Semenyo - 3.0: A disastrous performance. The missed penalty was the moment any hope of a comeback died. It was a poor effort and summed up his day. Beyond that, he offered little and was caught offside. The worst performer on the pitch by a mile.

Evanilson - 4.0: Incredibly wasteful. He missed two big chances and hit the woodwork. On another day he could have had a brace, but his finishing was non-existent. You simply have to take those chances at this level.

Substitutes

Álex Jiménez - 5.0: Came on early for the injured Smith and promptly got a yellow card. Struggled.
Lewis Cook - 5.5: Tried to add some control but the game was already gone.
Ryan Christie - 5.5: Added energy but no quality.
Amine Adli - 5.0: Made no impact.
Junior Kroupi - 5.0: Anonymous.
David Brooks - N/A: Not on long enough to rate.

Manager

A. Iraola - 4.0: His team was comprehensively outplayed and out-thought. They looked fragile at the back and toothless up front. The early injury was unlucky, but his side showed no real plan to counter Villa's dominance. A very bad day at the office for him.
