Summary
A pulsating Premier League encounter at Turf Moor saw the recently prmoted team Burnley and Nottingham Forest share the points in a hard-fought 1-1 draw. This was a game of two halves, and ultimately, two goalkeepers, which helped their respective teams earn a point. The visitors, Nottingham Forest who had a great 2024/25 season, exploded out of the blocks. They stunned the home crowd with a goal inside two minutes into the game.
Nottingham Forest player Neco Williams was the man to get it, finishing clinically after a corner. It felt like it could be a long afternoon for the Clarets. But to their credit, they didn't crumble. They dug in and fought their way back into the match.
Their reward came after twenty minutes. Jaidon Anthony coolly slotted home after a great assist from Lyle Foster. What stood out to us was how the game became a real midfield battle after that. It was scrappy, intense, and neither side could truly grab control. Both keepers were outstanding, with Martin Dubravka, who is our man of the match, making a string of saves to keep his team level. A draw felt like the right result in the end.

Goalkeeper
Martin Dúbravka - 8.5: What a performance. Yes, he conceded early, but you can't blame him for that finish. He then made an incredible seven saves to earn his side a point. We noticed five of those were from shots inside the box, which is just immense. His command of his area was excellent and without him, Burnley would have lost. The highest-rated player on the pitch for us.
Defenders
Kyle Walker - 6.5: A very mixed performance from Walker. He was solid in the air and won most of his duels. We saw him make a couple of key tackles and clearances. However, he was so wasteful in possession, losing the ball 20 times. That's just too high and it put his team under needless pressure. He needs to clean that up.
Quilindschy Hartman - 7.0: A constant threat going forward. He created three chances and even forced a good save from the Forest keeper. Defensively, he was a bit more suspect. From our perspective, he was caught out a few times and committed three fouls. A decent outing, but the end product wasn't always there with his crossing.
Maxime Estève - 7.5: I was personally very impressed by this guy. He was a rock at the back for Burnley. He won eight of his nine duels which is an incredible statistic. Add to that eight clearances and a composed presence on the ball. He was let down by a missed header, but his defensive contribution was top-notch.
Hjalmar Ekdal - 6.5: Solid but unspectacular next to his partner. He made six clearances and was generally in the right positions. However, he missed a massive chance from a header that could have won the game. That moment really brings his rating down a bit for us. Did his job defensively for the most part.
Josh Laurent - 6.0: A very quiet game. He kept his passing neat and tidy but offered very little else. In 90 minutes, he was only involved in two duels. We felt he was a bit of a passenger, just letting the game pass him by. You expect more involvement from a Premier League player.

Midfielders
Josh Cullen - 6.5: The captain put in a steady shift. He recycled possession well and broke up play with seven ball recoveries and a few clearances. It was an industrious performance, but it lacked any real creative spark. He kept the team ticking over without ever really hurting the opposition.
Florentino - 7.0: This was a real battling performance. Florentino was everywhere, making tackles and recovering the ball. He got a deserved yellow card for his troubles. His energy was crucial in helping Burnley get a foothold in the game after going behind. He provided the steel in midfield.
Jaidon Anthony - 8.0: Burnley's best outfield player by a mile. He took his goal with composure and was a constant menace. He had three shots on target and completed four dribbles, always looking to make things happen. What stood out was his confidence on the ball. He was the one player who looked capable of producing a moment of magic.
Loum Tchaouna - 6.5: So unlucky not to be the hero. His free-kick that crashed against the crossbar was a fantastic effort. Outside of that moment, he struggled to get into the game. He showed flashes of what he could do before he was substituted. A frustrating afternoon for the midfielder.
Forwards
Lyle Foster - 7.5: A fantastic shift from the striker. He provided a brilliant assist for the equalizer and was a general nuisance all game. He drew four fouls from the Forest defenders, showing how much of a handful he was. His hold-up play was excellent, and he was crucial to Burnley's attacking efforts before being subbed.

Substitutes
Hannibal Mejbri - N/A: Came on late and didn't have enough time to influence the match.
Zian Flemming - N/A: A very late substitution with no time to make an impact.
Manager
S. Parker - 6.5: His team showed good character to come back from the early goal. The setup was solid enough to earn a point. However, they couldn't find a way to win the game at home. The substitutions didn't really change the flow of the match. A satisfactory but uninspiring day at the office.

Goalkeeper
Matz Sels - 7.5: A strong and commanding performance. He couldn't do anything about the goal but made four important saves. The stop from Ekdal's header late in the game was particularly crucial. His distribution was also reliable. He earned his team a point on the road with his alertness and sharp reflexes.
Defenders
Neco Williams - 7.5: A strange game to rate. He scored a great goal and always looked like a threat going forward. But from our perspective, his defensive duties were neglected. He was dribbled past twice and gave the ball away too often. The goal was a massive contribution, which significantly boosts his score.
Morato - 6.0: He looked shaky, honestly. He picked up a late yellow card and only won half of his duels. For a central defender, that's not good enough. He seemed to struggle with the physicality of Lyle Foster. Not a performance he'll look back on fondly.
Nikola Milenković - 6.5: Very composed on the ball with an excellent pass completion rate. He made a number of important clearances. However, we noticed he was quite passive defensively, winning just one duel all game. We wanted to see him be more aggressive and impose himself on the Burnley forwards.
Oleksandr Zinchenko - 6.5: He saw a lot of the ball, with 128 touches. But what did he do with it? Defensively, he was a liability, getting dribbled past four times. He looked busy but ultimately ineffective. He contributed to build-up play but his defensive frailties were exposed.

Midfielders
Elliot Anderson - 8.0: Absolutely ran the show in midfield for Forest. He had an incredible 126 touches and completed 99 passes. He controlled the tempo of the game and was a creative force. On top of that, he worked tirelessly off the ball, making nine recoveries. A complete midfield performance.
Morgan Gibbs-White - 7.0: A solid captain's performance. He was neat in possession and created a couple of decent chances for his teammates. He worked hard and led by example. However, he didn't quite provide that decisive moment of quality that you often expect from him. A good, but not great, game.
Douglas Luiz - 6.0: A surprisingly quiet game from a player of his quality. He was tidy on the ball but failed to make any real impact on the match. He was substituted after 76 minutes, which tells its own story. We expected him to grab the game by the scruff of the neck, but it never happened.
Dan Ndoye - 5.5: A disappointing outing. He was active but incredibly wasteful in possession. He struggled in his duels and offered very little attacking threat. It was no surprise to see him substituted. He just couldn't get into the rhythm of the game at all.
Dilane Bakwa - 6.0: Started the game brightly and looked like a threat. He had a couple of shots on target and his movement was good. However, he completely faded as the first half wore on. He was the first player to be substituted, which was a fair decision.
Forwards
Chris Wood - 5.5: A really poor performance against his old club. He was anonymous for large parts of the game. He had one shot on target but never really looked like scoring. His lack of involvement was concerning, and he was rightly substituted. A day to forget for the big striker.
Substitutes
Callum Hudson-Odoi - 6.5: Looked lively when he came on and tried to make things happen.
Igor Jesus - 6.0: Forced a good save from the keeper with a decent header.
Arnaud Kalimuendo - 6.0: Had a shot blocked but didn't have much time.
Ibrahim Sangaré - N/A: Not enough time to make a meaningful contribution.
Manager
A. Postecoglou - 6.5: His team had the perfect start but couldn't capitalize on it. They allowed Burnley back into the game too easily. His substitutions added some energy but couldn't find a winner. A point away from home is decent, but he might feel it could have been more.
