Celtic 0-3 Roma Player Ratings: Evan Ferguson 9.5/10 Rated as Roma Secures Dominant 3-0 Victory

Summary
What a demolition. Roma traveled to Celtic Park and put on a clinic, securing a commanding 3-0 victory in this Europa League fixture. The match was over before it ever really began. The tone was set within six minutes when a disastrous own goal from Celtic's Liam Scales gifted the visitors an early lead. It was a moment that seemed to drain all the life from the home side and the stadium.
Roma, on the other hand, played with a swagger and confidence that was brilliant to watch. They were relentless. We noticed their forwards, particularly Evan Ferguson and Matías Soulé, were operating on a different level. Ferguson’s first two-half goals were a showcase of pure, clinical finishing, putting the game to bed before the halftime whistle even blew.
Celtic had a glimmer of hope right at the end of the half. They won a penalty, a chance to claw one back and change the team talk entirely. But Arne Engels struck the post, a moment that perfectly summed up Celtic's miserable night. The second half felt like a procession, with both sides having goals chalked off by VAR. This match was a statement win for Roma, who looked every bit a contender. Here are Sportsdunia's Celtic vs Roma player ratings.

Goalkeeper
Mile Svilar - 7.0: A fairly quiet evening for the shot-stopper, thanks to his defence. He made two important saves when called upon, particularly one late in the game. His distribution was solid. He commanded his area well, what stood out to us was his calmness under pressure.
Defenders
Evan Ndicka - 7.5: A colossus at the back. He was physically dominant, winning almost all of his aerial and ground duels. From our perspective, he gave the Celtic attackers no room to breathe. He picked up a booking but it was a necessary tactical foul. A very strong performance.
Gianluca Mancini - 7.0: A typical Mancini performance, full of aggression and a few clumsy fouls. He made six vital clearances and was a constant nuisance for the opposition. His forward passing even created chances, though one led to a disallowed goal. Overall, a very solid outing.
Mario Hermoso - 5.5: The one player who let his standards slip. He was generally decent in open play, but conceding the penalty was a major error in judgment. He was bailed out by Engels' miss. He was rightly booked and subbed off later. A disappointing moment in an otherwise flawless team display.

Midfielders
Devyne Rensch - 7.5: An energetic and skillful display on the left flank. He was excellent in one-on-one situations, completing four dribbles. His link-up play was sharp, and he provided great width for the team. A really promising performance from the midfielder.
Neil El Aynaoui - 8.0: Simply ran the show in the middle of the park. His 96% pass accuracy tells you everything you need to know. He was everywhere, breaking up play with four tackles and starting attacks from deep. An incredibly tidy and effective performance.
Niccolò Pisilli - 7.0: A very busy and hardworking display from the young midfielder. He looked composed on the ball and made some important defensive contributions. He didn't create much, but his energy was vital to Roma's midfield dominance before being substituted.
Zeki Çelik - 8.0: What a shift from the right-back. He was a menace going forward, providing a fantastic assist for Ferguson's first goal. Defensively, he was superb, winning seven of his eight duels. An all-action performance that Celtic couldn't handle.
Forwards
Evan Ferguson - 9.5: The star of the show. An absolutely outstanding performance. Two goals, and he was desperately unlucky not to get a hat-trick after hitting the post. His movement was intelligent, his finishing was lethal. Celtic's defenders will be having nightmares about him. Unquestionably the highest-rated player on the pitch.
Matías Soulé - 8.5: The creative spark for Roma. He was a joy to watch, gliding past players and threading incisive passes. He bagged a deserved assist and created three big chances for his teammates. We were really impressed by his vision and confidence on the ball.
Stephan El Shaarawy - 6.5: The captain worked hard but it just wasn't his night in front of goal. He got into good positions but spurned a couple of decent opportunities. His work rate was there, but he lacked the clinical edge of his fellow attackers.

Substitutes
Paulo Dybala - 6.5: Came on and showed some nice touches, almost grabbing an assist.
Lorenzo Pellegrini - 6.0: Helped see the game out with professional control in midfield.
Leon Bailey - 6.5: Looked lively and had a goal correctly disallowed by VAR.
Jan Ziólkowski - N/A: Not on long enough to rate.
Angeliño - N/A: Came on late to sure up the defence.
Manager
G. Gasperini - 9.0: A tactical masterclass. He set his team up to press high and exploit Celtic's defensive frailties from the first minute. His game plan worked to perfection. The substitutions were managed well to control the end of the game. A flawless night's work for the manager.

Goalkeeper
Kasper Schmeichel - 4.5: A night to forget for the veteran keeper. He was left exposed by his defense for the goals, but his distribution was poor, putting his team under more pressure. He made three saves but never looked commanding. From our perspective, he seemed to have lost a step.
Defenders
Liam Scales - 4.0: A truly disastrous performance. The early own goal was a moment of panic, and he never recovered his composure. He looked completely out of his depth against Roma's fluid attack. A very tough night for the defender.
Auston Trusty - 5.0: Was marginally better than his central defensive partner, but that isn't saying much. He was constantly pulled out of position and struggled to cope with Ferguson's movement. He won his tackles but was part of a defence that conceded three.
Kieran Tierney - 4.5: We were so disappointed with his performance. Looked a shadow of his former self. He was caught out defensively for the corner that led to the opening goal. Offered very little going forward and was hooked at halftime, which tells the whole story.

Midfielders
Hyun-jun Yang - 5.5: Tried to be busy but was ultimately ineffective. He lost possession too easily and was dribbled past twice. He just couldn't get into the game and was rightly substituted after an hour.
Sebastian Tounekti - 5.5: Ran his socks off but lacked the quality to make a difference in the final third. His decision-making was poor, and he was another player who just couldn't impose himself on the Europa League game.
Reo Hatate - 6.0: One of the few Celtic players who showed a bit of fight and quality. He had a powerful shot well-saved and tried to drive his team forward. However, he also made a crucial error leading to a shot. A mixed bag of a performance.
Callum McGregor - 5.5: The captain had an astounding 99% pass accuracy, but it felt like he was just playing it safe. He was completely overrun in midfield and couldn't get a foothold in the match. A passive performance when his team needed a leader.
Forwards
Benjamin Nygren - 4.0: Completely anonymous. We barely noticed he was on the pitch. He had no impact on the game whatsoever and was put out of his misery at halftime. A very poor showing.
Arne Engels - 4.5: This rating pains us. He showed great industry to win the penalty, a moment of real quality. But the subsequent miss from the spot was the defining moment of Celtic's entire night. Hitting the post from 12 yards out killed any hope of a comeback.
Daizen Maeda - 5.0: As always, he ran tirelessly but with very little end product. He chased shadows for most of the first half before being substituted. His energy is admirable but it needs to be channelled more effectively.
Substitutes
Kelechi Iheanacho - 6.5: Looked like a threat after coming on and was unlucky to have a goal disallowed for a tight offside.
Paulo Bernardo - 5.5: Brought some energy but couldn't change the game's flow.
Colby Donovan - 5.5: Replaced Tierney and looked a little more solid but the damage was already done.
Anthony Ralston - N/A: Not on long enough to rate.
Michel-Ange Balikwisha - N/A: Not on long enough to rate.
Manager
W. Nancy - 4.0: His team looked lost from the very start. The defensive organization was shambolic, and they were completely out-thought and out-fought in midfield. The halftime changes were necessary but ultimately fruitless. A brutal lesson for the manager at this level.
