China W 2-0 Bangladesh W Player Ratings: Ante Milicic's Women Register a Commanding Win to Kick Off AFC Women's Asian Cup Campaign

China W secured a well-earned 2-0 win against Bangladesh W in their first outing of the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup at CommBank Stadium in Parramatta. The Bengal Tigresses kept themselves in the game from the first whistle; however, two first-half strikes from Wang Shuang and Zhang Rui ended all of their good work.

An early booking for Yatong Lyu in the 10th minute put some pressure on coach Ante Milicic's women. However, the China Women's National Football Team kept producing attacking chances in the game and even peppered Bangladesh's goalkeeper Mile Akter with multiple shots.

The turning point in the game came when Wang Shuang finally got the breakthrough in the 44th minute with a long-distance effort to give China W a deserved lead. The game was virtually finished off in the first half added time, after Zhang Rui quickly added a second goal to China W's tally, virtually delivering the hammer blow to the hopes of the Bangladesh Womens National Football Team.

While coach Peter Butler tried to add some fresh energy by making two substitutions after half-time, the Bengal Tigresses just failed to convert their chances in front of goal against the reigning AFC Women's Asian Cup champions.

China W were on top of Bangladesh W throughout the game with 26 shots in total, averaging a 50% shot on target accuracy. Milicic's women also kept possession much better than the Bengal Tigresses as they averaged almost 60% possession in the game.
