Como vs Genoa Player Ratings

In a thrilling night at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, Como were left heartbroken after a late twist saw Genoa steal a point with virtually the last kick of the game. What looked like a deserved home victory turned into a dramatic 1-1 draw, as substitute Caleb Ekuban struck deep into stoppage time to stun the home crowd.

Nico Paz had given Como a first-half lead with a brilliant strike in the 13th minute, and for much of the match, it looked like that would be enough. Jean Butez was heroic in goal, keeping Genoa at bay time and again. But the turning point came in the 88th minute when defender Jacobo Ramón was shown a straight red card, leaving Como vulnerable. Genoa didn’t waste the opportunity — and in a pulsating finale, they found their breakthrough.

It was a match that had everything: quality, controversy, and a gut-wrenching finish — especially for the hosts. Here are Como vs Genoa Player Ratings:

Genoa Player Ratings vs Como

Goalkeeper

Nicola Leali - 6.5: He couldn't have done much about the goal, it was a fantastic strike. Made a couple of important saves, especially one to deny Mërgim Vojvoda in the second half. His distribution was a bit hit-and-miss, which put his team under some pressure. Overall a decent, if not spectacular, outing for the keeper.

Defenders

Aarón Martín - 8.0: Our man of the match. What a performance this was. He was a constant threat down the left flank, whipping in a staggering 11 crosses. He created four chances, more than anyone else on the pitch. Defensively he was solid too, winning most of his duels. An absolutely tireless display.

Leo Østigård - 6.5: A very physical and aggressive performance. He was a nuisance in the opposition box on set pieces but struggled in his aerial duels defensively, which was surprising. Picked up a deserved yellow card for a clumsy challenge. A mixed bag from the Norwegian defender, but his presence was certainly felt.

Stefano Sabelli - 6.0: A quiet evening for Sabelli before he was substituted just before the hour mark. He was solid enough defensively, making a few important tackles, but offered very little going forward. The change made sense as Genoa chased the game. He didn't do much wrong, but he didn't do much to stand out either.

Johan Vásquez - 7.0: The captain led by example. Very composed at the back, with an 88% pass accuracy that helped build from the back. Made a few key clearances and interceptions. He almost scored a late winner with a header. A really solid and reliable performance from the Mexican international.

Midfielders

Brooke Norton-Cuffy - 7.0: We noticed him straight away, a real livewire on the wing. He was fantastic on the ball, completing five dribbles and winning 10 duels. A constant source of energy and drive for his team. His final product was sometimes lacking, and he will be kicking himself for missing a big chance. So much potential here.

Ruslan Malinovskyi - 6.5: A typical Malinovskyi performance full of effort and a little bit of chaos. He was everywhere in midfield, recovering the ball and drawing fouls. However, he also committed three fouls and picked up a yellow card. His shooting was off-target, and he was subbed after 71 minutes of hard running.

Morten Frendrup - 7.0: The engine room of the team. What stood out to us were his seven tackles; he was a machine in the middle of the park. He broke up play relentlessly and kept his team ticking. He even created a big chance. An unsung hero for Genoa tonight.

Patrizio Masini - 7.0: Another all-action display in midfield. He won nine duels and made four successful tackles, showing real grit and determination. He wasn't just a destroyer though, he also got forward and had a shot on target. A very well-rounded and impressive performance.

Mikael Egill Ellertsson - 6.0: He had one decent shot on target that was saved but was otherwise on the periphery of the game. He worked hard but struggled to make a real impact on proceedings. It wasn't a surprise to see him substituted as Genoa looked for a goal.

Forwards

Lorenzo Colombo - 5.5: A really tough night for the striker. From our perspective, he just never got into the game. He lost possession 12 times and seemed to struggle against Como's physical defenders. He missed a big chance and just looked off the pace. A night to forget.

Substitutes

Caleb Ekuban - 7.5: The hero of the hour. Came on and completely changed the game, scoring a brilliant equalizer in stoppage time. What an impact. A perfect substitute's performance.

Junior Messias - 6.5: Added some attacking impetus when he came on, but missed a clear-headed chance late on.

Valentín Carboni - 6.0: Didn't have much time to influence the game.

Jeff Ekhator - N/A: Not on long enough to rate.

Manager

P. Vieira - 7.5: His substitutions were spot on. He saw his team was struggling to break Como down and made positive changes. Bringing on Caleb Ekuban was a masterstroke that earned his team a vital point. He deserves immense credit for the comeback.

Como Player Ratings vs Genoa

Goalkeeper

Jean Butez - 7.5: He must be absolutely gutted not to have kept a clean sheet. Butez was outstanding. He made three crucial saves inside the box and commanded his area well with two high claims. He was a massive reason Como were ahead for so long. There was nothing he could do about the late goal.

Defenders

Marc Oliver Kempf - 7.0: A real warrior's performance at the back. He put his body on the line, blocking three shots. He was calm in possession with a 92% pass accuracy. Won most of his duels and was a steadying influence throughout. A top-class defensive display.

Álex Valle - 6.0: A difficult night for the full-back. He was often targeted by Genoa's attack and was dribbled past three times. Picked up a yellow card and lost possession 20 times. He battled hard but it felt like he was struggling against the energetic Brooke Norton-Cuffy.

Mërgim Vojvoda - 6.5: A solid and professional performance. He was defensively sound, making four clearances. He also got forward to test the keeper with a good shot. He wasn't spectacular, but he did his job effectively for the most part without any major errors.

Jacobo Ramón - 5.5: This is a tough one to rate. For 88 minutes, he was arguably one of Como's best players, dominating in the air with eight aerial wins and making nine clearances. But his straight red card was a moment of madness. It completely changed the game and ultimately cost his team two points. A great performance undone by a terrible decision.

Midfielders

Maxence Caqueret - 7.0: So classy in the middle of the park. His passing was almost perfect, and he controlled the tempo for Como while he was on the pitch. He won seven duels and made two tackles, showing the defensive side of his game too. Como looked less controlled after he was substituted.

Nico Paz - 7.5: Scored a sensational goal to give his team the lead. He was Como's most creative player, always looking to make things happen. He had three shots in total and was a constant threat from midfield. A brilliant individual performance that deserved to be on the winning side.

Jesús Rodríguez - 5.0: From our perspective, this was a performance to forget. He was completely ineffective. He lost possession a staggering 20 times in 85 minutes and completed just 12 passes. He looked lost and was a passenger for large parts of the game. The lowest-rated player on the pitch for a reason.

Nicolas Kühn - 6.5: A very lively and energetic display. He created three chances for his teammates and was always looking to be positive. However, his final ball and decision-making let him down at times. He got into good positions but couldn't quite provide the killer touch.

Lucas Da Cunha - 6.5: The captain had a very tidy game in possession, boasting a 95% pass completion rate. He kept things simple and effective. However, he didn't offer much of a creative spark before being substituted. A solid, if unspectacular, performance.

Forwards

Álvaro Morata - 6.5: A classic Álvaro Morata game. He provided a clever assist for the opening goal. But then he went on to miss a big chance that could have sealed the win. He worked hard and linked up play well, but that missed chance looms large.

Substitutes

Tasos Douvikas - 6.0: Came on but struggled to get involved in the game.

Máximo Perrone - 6.0: Kept things tidy but didn't have a major impact.

Jayden Addai - 6.0: Looked lively but couldn't find a breakthrough.

Sergi Roberto - 5.5: Came on and promptly got a yellow card for a clumsy foul.

Martin Baturina - N/A: Not on long enough to rate.

Manager

F. Fàbregas i Soler - 6.0: His team started brilliantly and executed the game plan well for 88 minutes. However, they failed to kill the game off with a second goal. His side's inability to see out the match after the red card will be a major point of frustration. He will feel this is two points dropped.
