Everton 2-2 Manchester United Player Ratings: Both Clubs Share The Spoil In A 2-2 Scoreline

Goodison Park expected another drama as the hosts welcomed the struggling Manchester United this Saturday. Saturday’s fixture saw a 2-2 score as Burno Fernandes brought back his team in this game after trailing behind 2-0 in the first half with goals from Doucoure and Beto. The game started and in 5 minutes the travelling team was struggling to play from the back. In times of scrappy play, Everton almost scored the first goal, which ended up in the safe hands of Onana.

After 15 minutes, the Red Devils started to pick up their pace as they approached the game from the flanks to deliver quality ball in the middle but there was no quality. In the 17th minute, Casemiro was dismissed off the ball which saw a quick counter from the Toffees. The ball went into a corner eventually. As soon as Manchester United thought the danger was gone, a tussle in the box from the set piece saw Beto with the ball facing Onana. He guided the ball past Onana to give his team the lead. Both the referee and the VAR cleared the goal. So, it stood 1-0 for the home team.

In the 32nd minute, we saw why David Moyes’ approach of playing from the lines worked. It was a sublime build-up that saw Harrison shoot at Onana’s hands but Doucoure was there to have the 2nd go which gave the team the 2-0 lead.

Another Manchester United defense error saw a goal at the end minutes of the first half but Mazraoui kept the danger away. After the 1st half, it was Everton 2-0 Manchester United.

As the 2nd half began, Manchester United saw a compact defense as Everton moved forward. On the other hand, Everton did not want Manchester United to settle. The 52nd minute saw the first substitution as Ashley Young came in to play against his ex-team Manchester United.

In the 71st minute, magic happened as Bruno Fernandes guided his thumping shot at the back of the Everton net to get one goal back and set the score 2-1. Drama struck Goodison Park as Ugarte made it 2-2 from a set-piece taken by Bruno Fernandes in the 79th minute.

In the 87th minute, Beto had a chance to get the lead again but his header was safe in Onana’s hand. In the 93rd minute, a penalty was given to the hosts as Young went to the ground by de Ligt and Maguire illegally. However, after a long check, the decision was overturned. At the end of the full-time, it was Everton 2-2 Manchester United.

Here are the Everton vs Manchester United Player Ratings.

Everton Player Ratings

Beto (Image Source: Official X of Everton)

GK – Pickford – 4/10

Had very little to do in the first half. All thanks to the approach the Toffees had in mind today. However, he had to make a lot of saves in the 2nd half.

RB – O’Brien – 4.5/10

Looked sharp going forward, and had very little to do with defensive work. Saw an unnecessary Yellow card at the end minutes of the first half. He won 5 out of his 8 duels.

CB-Tarkowski- 5/10

Had a terrible performance in the 2nd half of the game. He won 2 out of his 4 aerial duels.

CB- Branthwaite- 4.5/10

While he held the defense line well in the first half, he was playing sloppily in the 2nd half of the game. He had a total of 7 clearances.

LB- Mykolenko- 5/10

His off-the-ball runs in the first half went unnoticed by many today. He had an xA of 0.04.

CDM- Garner- 5/10

Seemed to hold a high line in the first half. And why not given they had the better part of the ball possession? Got a yellow card. Before he was taken off, in the 81 minutes he played, he had 43 touches of the ball.

CDM- Gueye- 5.5/10

Won the major part of the one-on-ones today in the first half. He had an 88% accurate pass rate in the game.

LM- Harrison- 5/10

Though it was he who played the key role in the first goal, his deliveries today were not up to the mark. His missed attempt saw the second goal that was scored by Doucoure.

RM- Lindstrom- 4.5/10

Seemed to have been given new motivation by his coach as he seemed very energetic today. He had 79% accurate passes today before he was subbed off to get some rest.

CAM- Doucoure- 6/10

Been the soul of Everton’s attacks in the first half. His timely releases made sure the receiver got more space with the ball. Though his assist to Beto was quite scrappy. Scored the second goal himself in the 32nd minute.

ST- Beto- 6.5

Scored the goal in the 18th minute to give Toffees the lead. He had a 0.08 xA.

GK- Onana- 5/10

He certainly is not the goalkeeper that he played as today. We’ve seen his standard and he needs to get back to that level again.

CB- Matthijs de Ligt- 5/10

He was the better defender in the back three of the Red Devils today. He won 4 out of his 8 aerial duels.

CB- Maguire- 4.5/10

He is supposed to lead the backline. How can he do that without having a better presence in his line? He made a total of 10 clearances today.

CB- Mazraoui- 4.5/10

Does not seem to be comfortable in his position right now. He won 6 out of 9 ground duels.

CM- Dalot- 4/10

His casual demeanor in the box during the set piece might be one of many reasons why United conceded the first goal. He had a total of 0.03 xA.

CM- Ugarte- 4/10

He played his part in Manchester United’s average midfield performance today. Scored the 2nd goal for his team that saw the 2-2 score. He had a 0.06 xG.

CM- Casemiro- 4.5/10

When did the Brazilian become the midfielder who gets outplayed by every team’s midfield? The ex-Madrid player seems to be the shadow of the man he was. He had 0.02 xA before he was subbed off.

CM- Dorgu- 4.5/10

Ever since the whistle, he was on his tippy toes while defending and going forward. He had a total of 89 touches today.

CAM- Zirkzee- 5/10

Was supposed to be the creative player alongside Bruno Fernandes today. Held up well in the first half whenever he got the ball.

CAM- Fernandes- 5.5/10

Probably the spark and soul of Manchester United right now. Scored the first goal for his team from a free kick. Was the key player in United’s second goal. He was Sportsdunia’s man of the match today.

ST- Hojlund- 4.5/10

Seen way too less of the ball in the first half. In 70 minutes he played, he had only 12 touches. He made 7 out of 7 accurate passes.

Sub- Garnacho- 4/10

Came on in the 60th minute to replace Casemiro.

Sub- Yero- 4/10

The 70th minute saw a couple of substitutions. Yero was one of them.

Sub- Obi-Martin- 4/10

Came along Yero at the 70th minute.

Manager- Ruben Amorim- 4/10

By 30 minutes, his face said it all about his team and the evening.
