However, the Frenchman tried to side-foot his penalty, which was easily grabbed by Yassine Bonou, diving to his left, to keep the scores level. Desire Doue had a tame effort on goal which Bono saved, and Lucas Digne's belter went off the crossbar. Apart from that, there was no real opening for either team, and the game finished 0-0 at halftime.

Kylian Mbappé redeemed himself in the second half, when he curled in at Bono's far post in the 60th minute, past Issa Diop, who was marking him closely. Current Ballon d'Or winner Ousmane Dembele doubled France's lead just six minutes later, as he placed one past Bono, who got a fingertip to it. The Al Hilal goalkeeper should have done better, but France wouldn't have complained much.

The French secured a comfortable victory to secure their semifinal berth, while the Atlas Lions had to leave heartbroken from a tournament where they gave their all.
