Sommer made a poor error for the goal, not being able to react sharply and failing to clear his goal. He did make some sharp saves to frustrate the Fluminense players later on, but couldn't do much about the second goal.

Matteo Darmian - 3/10

Darmian had an erratic game in the backline, being caught completely ball watching for the Fluminense opening goal. He won a few duels, but was caught in awkward positions multiple times and struggled with authority. Caught in a bad position for the second goal, too.

Stefan De Vrij - 6/10

De Vrij was arguably Inter's best defensive figure. He kept a proactive profile, winning a lot of duels and coming up in the right areas to make a number of key clearances too. Missed a huge goal-scoring chance.

Alessandro Bastoni - 4/10

Bastoni struggled to keep things quiet on his side, as the ball deflected off him to set up the Fluminense opener. He lost a lot of duels and struggled to keep the Brazilian side quiet on his side.

Denzel Dumfries - 4/10

Dumfries lacked conviction with his output against Fluminense. He lost most of his duels, failed to stop most of Fluminense's attacks on his side, and couldn't create much either.

Barella was a pretty proactive figure in the midfield, covering a lot of ground and moving the ball forward efficiently. He helped control things nicely, winning many key duels to fight hard in the key areas.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan - 5.5/10

Mkhitaryan lacked the creative brilliance that he normally brings. He set up a nice chance for Dimarco, but couldn't set up anything more after that.

Forwards

Lautaro Martinez - 4.5/10

Martinez was quite wasteful with the ball, often giving it away to spark counter-attacks. He created a nice chance in the second half, before seeing a goal-bound shot brilliantly saved, and another strike hit the post.

Marcus Thuram - 3/10

Thuram had a forgettable outing. The Frenchman completed less than 10 passes and failed to create any major chances, lacking conviction with his final product and failing to test the goalkeeper.

Substitutes

Luis Henrique - 5/10

Henrique failed to add much creativity late on and had a late shooting chance go into the stands.

Petar Sucic - 6/10

Sucic was disciplined and efficient with his forward passes and helped his side control possession late on.

Valentin Carboni - 5/10

Carboni misplaced quite a few passes and failed to create much after coming on.

Esposito helped to link up nicely with his teammates, but couldn't get to the end of any major chances.

Fabio was a proactive figure in his goal, tracking Inter's movement nicely and coming up with vital contributions. The 44-year-old made some sharp saves to frustrate Inter, including a huge late save to deny Esposito.

Defenders

Xavier - 7/10

Xavier provided a nice cross that deflected its way for the opening goal. He was proactive on the right, making some nice challenges, but was also occasionally outwitted by Inter's attacking pattern.

Ignacio - 8.5/10

Ignacio was a livewire in the backline for Fluminense. He won over 10 duels and repeatedly made some vital challenges and tackles to neutralize Inter's attacking flow, frustrating their forwards.

Thiago Silva - 9/10

Silva held together a brilliant defensive line for his side. The 40-year-old marked Martinez expertly to neutralize his threat and also came up with some crucial clearances to fend away danger, showing he's still got it at his age!

Freytes held his own on the left side of the backline, working hard to neutralize Inter's flow through the side. He got booked for a sloppy foul in the first half, but came up with some key clearances to neutralize attacks.

Rene might've lacked much attacking power, as he hardly went forward and was made to defend deep. He did his job well, stopping Inter from creating much on his side by winning some nice duels.

Facundo Bernal - 7/10

Bernal held his own in the midfield battle, covering a lot of ground to stop gaps from forming. He made some key defensive contributions and was really disciplined with his passing, too.

Nonato couldn't do much on the transitions to hurt the Inter backline. He failed to create much and lost way too many duels before being taken off.

Martinelli did a pretty good job with his distribution, passing the ball forward quickly to help his side on the transitions. He couldn't create much and started losing duels, resulting in a substitution.

Arias was a livewire figure at the Fluminense frontline, dribbling past the Inter defenders with ease to get into some prime areas. He created several key chances with his impressive delivery and also troubled Sommer with some nice shots on goal.

German Cano - 8/10

German Cano had a brilliant start to the game, getting in the right place to score past Sommer. He was a pest with his clever positioning and movement, but was taken off because of a booking.
