Japan vs Indonesia
  • The match took place at the Panasonic Stadium in Suita
  • Japan has already qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2026.
  • Indonesia will play the next round to redeem their World Cup hopes.

The Panasonic Stadium in Suita welcomed us to the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers third round encounter between Japan and Indonesia. The fate of the game won't affect the qualification and the standings of the group.

Japan has already finished atop the points table and has already qualified for the FIFA 2026 World Cup in America.

Indonesia, on the other hand, have played well to keep their qualification hopes alive by finishing in the top 3. A win won't be enough to hand them a direct spot in this round. Neither loss could eliminate them.

They will have to ply their trade in the next round to redeem their World Cup hopes.

Japan had been superb in this round, and their sole defeat came against Australia in the recent game.
Even a defeat would have still made them the undisputed toppers of Group C.

This match presented a golden opportunity for both the teams to finish the third round on a strong note. A win for Indonesia would have boosted their morale ahead, whereas a win for Japan could have made them the team with the maximum points among all groups.

Since Hajime Moriyasu took over the reins of the Blue Samurai, they have been infallible in Asia as well as in world football. With momentum on his side, he would have loved to finish the qualifiers strongly with a win.

Japan showed intent in this match from the first minutes. Their early dominance paid off as a cross from Shunsuke Mito was headed into the goal by Daichi Kamada in the 15th minute. Kubo's right-footed shot went straight into the goal as Japan extended their lead by two within the first 20 minutes. Japan scored the third goal after Kamada found the back of the net in the last few seconds of the first half. Morishita and Machina scored a goal each in the second half to seal the fate of the match in Japan's favour. Hosoya's 80th minute strike was the final nail in the coffin as Japan won the game.
