Nick Pope - 7.0: A relatively quiet day for Pope, which is a testament to his defence. He made three important saves when called upon, all from inside the box. What stood out to us was his command of the area, claiming high balls with confidence. His distribution was a bit wayward, with only a 34% pass accuracy, but he did his primary job well and couldn't do much about the goal he conceded.

Defenders

Sven Botman - 7.5: An absolute rock at the back. Botman was immense, making a staggering nine clearances and two interceptions. He won nearly all of his duels and even created a big chance going forward. His performance was calm and composed, a stark contrast to the Brighton backline. We felt he was one of the unsung heroes of this victory.

Dan Burn - 8.0: A classic Big Dan Burn performance. He scored a fantastic header to double Newcastle's lead and was a colossus defensively. He won his tackles, dominated in the air, and made six clearances. The yellow card was the only minor blemish on an otherwise perfect display. From our perspective, he was simply unplayable today.

Joelinton - 6.5: A physical and combative display from the Brazilian. He won a remarkable eight duels in the middle of the park, constantly breaking up Brighton's play. His work rate was phenomenal, though he was a little wasteful in possession at times. He got into a good shooting position but couldn't find the target. A tireless effort, if lacking a little quality in the final third.

Sandro Tonali - 7.0: A classy performance from the Italian midfielder. He was tidy in possession and created a big chance for his teammates. He worked hard defensively too, making crucial tackles and interceptions. The late yellow card was unnecessary, but it didn't overshadow his controlled and creative influence on the game. He looked very comfortable out there.

Jacob Murphy - 8.5: Our man of the match. Murphy was electric during his time on the pitch, providing a brilliant assist for the opening goal. He created three chances in total, always looking to be positive and run at his man. His 100% pass accuracy was astonishing and showed his efficiency. He was a constant thorn in Brighton's side before being substituted.

Joe Willock - 6.5: An energetic but ultimately frustrating game for Willock. He got into great positions and had a couple of shots, one of which forced a save. Bart Verbruggen - 4.5: A very difficult afternoon for the Brighton keeper. The error leading to a goal was a killer blow from which his team never truly recovered. While he made a few saves, that crucial mistake defined his performance. From our perspective, he looked shaky and his distribution wasn't convincing, putting his defence under unnecessary pressure.

Defenders

Jan Paul van Hecke - 5.5: He battled hard, winning nine duels, but it was a tough day at the office. He was part of a defence that was torn apart in the first half and his error led to a goal. He made some important clearances, but the damage was already done. The late yellow card summed up a frustrating performance.

Olivier Boscagli - 5.0: He saw a lot of the ball but struggled to contain Newcastle's rampant attack. He was dribbled past and lost a few key duels.
