Portugal national fotball team looked shell-shocked after Attila Szalai's eighth-minute opener. But when you have a player like Cristiano Ronaldo, you are never out of the fight. He single-handedly dragged his team back into it, first equalizing and then giving them the lead right before halftime. The man is simply inevitable. The second half was just as chaotic. Both teams hit the woodwork and traded chances in an end-to-end spectacle. Goalkeeper

Diogo Costa - 5.5: A difficult night for the keeper. He made four saves, including a couple of decent ones, but his game will be remembered for a costly error that led to a goal. He looked uncertain and his distribution was not at its best. Conceding two goals at home is never a good look.

Defenders

Nélson Semedo - 7.5: A very positive outing for the right-back. He provided a great assist for Ronaldo's first goal, showing his attacking intent. He was solid for the most part, with a 91% pass accuracy and looked comfortable on the ball. One of Portugal's better performers.

Rúben Dias - 7.0: A typically combative performance. He was a monster in the air, winning seven aerial duels and made a staggering 10 clearances. He was unlucky not to score, rattling the crossbar with a shot. However, he is part of a defence that shipped two goals.

Renato Veiga - 6.0: The young defender had a mixed game. While his passing was tidy, he struggled in his duels, winning just three of seven. He looked a little exposed at times and didn't impose himself on the Hungarian forwards. A learning experience for him.

Nuno Mendes - 8.0: What an engine. He was a constant threat down the left flank, creating four chances and delivering a perfect assist for Ronaldo's second. He was defensively sound too, winning most of his duels and making three tackles. A fantastic all-round display.

Bruno Fernandes - 6.5: Not the usual influential performance we expect from him. He created four chances, which is good, but picked up a silly yellow card and seemed to drift out of the game. It wasn't a surprise to see him substituted after 62 minutes.

Bernardo Silva - 6.5: Tireless as ever, but he lacked his usual creative spark. He kept possession well but struggled to break down a resolute Hungarian defence, winning only two of his nine duels. A quiet evening by his high standards.

Rúben Neves - 6.5: A tidy but unspectacular hour on the pitch. His passing was accurate, but he was dribbled past three times, which was concerning. He failed to control the tempo of the midfield before being substituted.

Vitinha - 7.0: The metronome in Portugal's midfield. Saw a huge amount of the ball, with 106 touches and a 97% pass completion rate. He dictated play from deep but an error did lead to a shot. Needed to be more decisive in the final third.

Forwards

Pedro Neto - 7.0: A really bright and energetic display from the winger. He was a constant thorn in Hungary's side, drawing three fouls and looking to take players on. His final ball was sometimes lacking, but he was a real danger before being taken off.

Cristiano Ronaldo - 9.0: What more can you say. He was simply magnificent. When his team needed him, he delivered two clinical finishes to turn the game on its head. He had seven shots and was a constant threat. The highest-rated player on the pitch and our Man of the Match, even with the final result.

Manager

R. Martínez Montoliú - 6.0: His team showed resilience to fight back from a goal down. However, they failed to manage the game and hold onto the lead. The late concession at home will feel like a defeat. His substitutions didn't have the desired impact to kill the game off.

Willi Orbán - 7.0: The captain led by example with a calm and composed performance. He made six clearances and won 100% of his duels, which is incredible. A rock at the heart of the Hungarian defence.

Loïc Nego - 6.5: A workhorse performance from Nego. He was defensively diligent, making three tackles and five clearances. He didn't offer a huge amount going forward but stuck to his task well against Portugal's tricky wingers.
