Paris Saint-Germain locked horns with Real Madrid in the second semifinal of the FIFA Club World Cup on 9th July, 2025, at 3:00 PM (GMT), at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Paris Saint-Germain were coming off a convincing win against Bayern Munich in the quarters, while Real Madrid outlasted Borussia Dortmund to set up a mega clash with the German giants.
The match started with Paris Saint-Germain pressing the Real Madrid midfield and backline hard, which resulted in the opening goal of the game in just the 6th minute, when Raul Asencio failed to clear the ball properly in the box and Ousmane Dembele was on hand to pick it up. Thibaut Courtois stopped him well as the Frenchman tried to round him up, but the second ball fell to Fabian Ruiz, who made no mistake in slotting it past the helpless Belgian goalkeeper. Real Madrid's woes continued as Antonio Rudiger failed to play a simple pass back to his goalkeeper and missed the ball completely, which was nabbed well by Ousmane Dembele, who made no mistake in putting it past Courtois in the 9th minute. Dembele and Achraf Hakimi combined well on the right-hand side of the pitch to open up acres of space behind the Madrid backline, which Hakimi took full advantage of to provide a juicy assist for Fabian Ruiz, who doubled his tally for the day with a neat finish in just the 24th minute of the game.
Real Madrid played with more zeal and enthusiasm in the second half but were unable to find the back of the net. They had a number of corners in their favour, but weren't able to make good use of those. It was in the 87th minute when Goncalo Ramos scored the fourth goal for Paris Saint-Germain to put the icing on the cake, as they qualified quite convincingly for the finals of the FIFA Club World Cup, where they will play Chelsea. Here are PSG Player Ratings from Real Madrid vs PSG Player Ratings:
Goalkeeper:
Gianluigi Donnarumma - 6.5/10
Made a couple of good saves in the first half and was tidy enough with his distribution.
Defenders:
Achraf Hakimi - 7/10
Achraf Hakimi proved his worth once again as he bombarded the Real Madrid right flank on almost every occasion. His dazzling runs proved to be dangerous, as Fran Garcia did have some problems while containing the right-back. Defensively, he was solid too. Combined well with Ousmane Dembele on the right to provide a juicy assist to Fabian Ruiz for Paris Saint-Germain's third goal of the game.
Marquinhos - 6.5/10
The Brazilian defender had a good outing at the back, as the skipper kept things tight and left little space for Kylian Mbappe to exploit for most of the game. However, he did lose a few of the duels he contested in and left space behind for the likes of Gonzalo Garcia and Vinicius Junior to exploit. Held the defensive line well and cleared a number of crosses too.
Lucas Beraldo - 6/10
Lucas Beraldo had a fair enough outing but did struggle against the pace of Kylian Mbappe as the Frenchman got behind him at times. He put his foot in once or twice to disrupt the Madrid counter attacks and played the ball out well from the back.
Nuno Mendes - 7/10
Nuno Mendes was quite lively on the left side, causing problems for Fran Garcia at times with his burst of pace. The left back got into dangerous positions in and around the Real Madrid penalty box and whipped in a number of dangerous crosses for his teammates. The Portuguese was sound defensively as he held Gonzalo Garcia well and minimized his threat.

Midfielders:
Joao Neves - 6/10
Joao Neves kept finding pockets of space in the midfield and was on point with his passing. The Portuguese youngster won a number of duels in the middle of the park and kept the Real Madrid midfield from causing too many problems for the Paris Saint-Germain backline.
Vitinha - 6.5/10
Vitinha had a nice outing in the semifinal, as he found himself with acres of space to exploit in the Real Madrid midfield. Made quite a few good runs with the ball from the deep and regulated the tempo well.
Fabian Ruiz - 8.5/10
The Spaniard got into dangerous positions in and around the Madrid penalty box and was on hand to score the goal past Thibaut Courtois to give Paris Saint-Germain the lead. Fabian Ruiz tracked back well and gave the likes of Jude Bellingham little to no room to showcase his skills on the ball. Scored his second with a good finish with his left foot to triple the lead for his team.
Forwards:
Desire Doue - 6/10
Desire Doue was quite lively down the right wing but had little success against Fran Garcia, as the left back covered him well for most of the game. Tracked back well to help Achraf Hakimi out at times.
Ousmane Dembele - 7.5/10
Ousmane Dembele pressed the Real Madrid backline quite well and caused all sorts of problems, as he forced both Raul Asencio and Antonio Rudiger into committing heinous mistakes, one of which resulted in a goal for the Frenchman. Dembele used his pace well and even tracked back to help out his midfielders.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia - 6.5/10
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia brought his bag of tricks to the game and put them to good use as he glided past the Madrid players with ease. The Georgian winger was unlucky not to find the back of the net but worked hard to win the ball back for his team in dangerous areas, displaying a brilliant work rate overall.

Substitutes:
Goncalo Ramos - 7/10
Scored the fourth goal of the game and finished off a near-perfect outing from his team.
Bradley Barcola - 6/10
Warren Zaire-Emery - 6/10
Senny Mayulu - 6/10
Lee Kang-in - NA
Manager:
Luis Enrique - 7.5/10
Enrique set his team up in a 4-3-3 formation with the usual front three of Kvaratskhelia, Dembele, and Doue. The three forwards were instrumental once again in bringing fortunes for his side, as all of them were involved somehow in each of the goals Paris Saint-Germain scored. His team pressed the Madrid midfield and backline non-stop and didn't give an inch of space for the opponent to make things happen.

Real Madrid Player Ratings

Here are Real Madrid Player Ratings from PSG vs Real player ratings:
Goalkeeper:
Thibaut Courtois - 5.5/10
The Belgian goalkeeper made two point-blank saves in the opening five minutes but had nothing to do with all the three goals he conceded as each one of them was down to horrendous defensive mistakes. Played well with the ball at his feet and kept the scoreline to a respectable one for his side.
Defenders:
Fede Valverde - 5.5/10
Fede Valverde had to play out of position due to Trent Alexander-Arnold missing out due to an injury. The Uruguayan midfielder had a difficult time dealing with the double threat of Nuno Mendes and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia on the right-hand side and found himself all alone without much help from his teammates. Enjoyed only a little while going forward, as the Madrid skipper had to defend his box for most of the game.
Raul Asencio - 4.5/10
Raul Asencio was looking to fill in the shoes of Dean Huijsen, who missed out on the match due to a red card, but had a horrendous start as he gave away the ball cheaply in the penalty box, which resulted in Paris Saint-Germain's first goal of the game. His positioning was awful throughout the game, as he was seen nowhere during the rest of the goals that were scored by the French side.
Antonio Rudiger - 5/10
Antonio Rudiger also had a game to forget, as he completely mis-kicked a simple pass to Thibaut Courtois, which was snapped up by Ousmane Dembele, and finished it past the diving Belgian goalkeeper. The German defender was too slow to react at times, which let the Paris Saint-Germain players take advantage with their superior pace.
Fran Garcia - 6/10
Fran Garcia was the only positive thing in the Real Madrid backline, as the Spaniard defended really well against Desire Doue on the right-hand side. However, the double threat of Achraf Hakimi and Doue proved to be too much for him at times, as Hakimi provided a lovely assist from his side for the third goal of the game.

Midfielders:
Arda Guler - 5/10
Arda Guler played as a no. 6 in the match but didn't have much impact, as he was contained well by the Paris Saint-Germain midfield. The Turk couldn't play his usual game of controlling the tempo for his team and lost possession way too easily. Guler was too slow to track back and didn't win any of the duels he contested in.
Aurelien Tchouameni - 5.5/10
Tchouameni had to drop in between the two centre backs to regulate the passing of the ball more efficiently. The Frenchman was caught out of position a number of times and failed to win quite a few tackles in and around the danger areas, which gave the Paris Saint-Germain players space to pull their moves through.
Jude Bellingham - 6/10
Jude Bellingham put in a real shift in the midfield, as he seemed to be the only one trying to make things happen in the middle of the park. The Englishman kept pressing and tracking back to win a couple of important duels and often found himself frustrated due to the lack of support from his teammates. He got into good positions in and around the Paris Saint-Germain penalty box and played one or two acute balls for the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior.
Forwards:
Vinicius Junior - 5.5/10
Vinicius Junior tried his level best by switching positions with his other two partners in the forward position, but wasn't much effective for most of the game. The Brazilian tried to pull of a few tricks here and there but was largely kept at bay by the Paris Saint-Germain defenders.
Gonzalo Garcia - 5/10
Gonzalo Garcia couldn't replicate the form he has been in throughout the tournament in this match, as he misplaced a number of passes, and his first touches weren't too good either.
Kylian Mbappe - 6/10
Kylian Mbappe brought his A-game to the match but wasn't able to find the back of the net. He took on the Paris Saint-Germain defenders quite well and caused a sense of panic whenever he had the ball at his feet.
Substitutes:
Eder Militao - 6/10
Luka Modric - 6/10
Brahim Diaz - 6/10
Dani Carvajal - 5/10
Lucas Vazquez - NA
Manager:
Xabi Alonso - 6/10
Xabi Alonso set his team up well in a 4-3-3 formation with Fede Valverde deputed as the right-back and handed Kylian Mbappe his first start of the tournament. However, individual errors at the back from his team shifted the momentum entirely in favour of Paris Saint-Germain, and they made no mistakes to hurt the Los Blancos dearly. Made quick reinforcements in the second half and had a better outing as compared to the first half, but it just wasn't enough to overcome the damage inflicted by the French side.
