The final matchweek of the group stage encounters in Group H took us to Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, where Real Madrid and RB Salzburg clashed for a spot in the playoffs. The standings of Group H in the FIFA Club World Cup were very tight, as RB Salzburg, Al Hilal, and Real Madrid had remained unbeaten in the first two games.

A draw would have been enough for Los Blancos to qualify, whereas a win would have guaranteed a knockout spot for RB Salzburg. The match started thoroughly in favour of Real Madrid, as they dominated the first few minutes of the game. They controlled possession throughout the first 45 minutes, taking six shots and having one big opportunity in the game until the referee indicated an additional three minutes.

Real Madrid ran riot in the regulation time. After an accurate pass by Bellingham was converted into a goal by Vini, Los Blancos doubled their advantage after Valverde made full use of Diambou's mistake.
