  • Gonzalo Garcia scored the opening goal of the game for Real Madrid in the 54th minute.
  • Michele Di Gregorio made more than five saves to keep Juventus in the game.
  • Randal Kolo Muani missed an absolute sitter against Thibaut Courtois.

Real Madrid locked horns with Juventus FC in a Round of 16 match of the FIFA Club World Cup at the Hard Rock Stadium in Florida on 1st July, 2025, at 3:00 PM (GMT). Both teams took the field on a hot afternoon with eyes set on securing a qualification to the quarterfinal stage of the tournament.

Real Madrid started the game well, as they maintained a healthy amount of possession in the first few minutes. Juventus slowly grew into the game and started to play more freely as time went by. Madrid's high line was intelligently breached by Juventus when Randal Kolo Muani was one-on-one with Thibaut Courtois, but the Frenchman put it just above the crossbar. Kenan Yildiz had a chance to test the Belgian goalkeeper but scuffed his shot just from just outside the penalty box. The Los Blancos were relentless in their pressing, which forced quite a few unwanted mistakes from the Juventus players. Jude Bellingham came the closest for the Royal Whites as he saw his shot well saved by Michele Di Gregorio from close range. Both teams went into the break without opening their account.

The second half of the Real Madrid vs Juventus FC started with Real Madrid pushing, trying to get things by some way or the other, while Juventus sat back and went on the counter whenever they got a chance. It was not until the 54th minute that the floodgates finally opened, as Gonzalo Garcia rose above all and fired in a bullet header from a peach of a delivery into the box from Trent Alexander-Arnold. Just a few minutes later, Courtois got down really well and saved Francisco Conceicao's vicious effort to keep his team in the lead.

Real Madrid kept pushing to extend their lead, but Juventus were quite compact after conceding the goal. Juventus pushed forward at times, testing the Madrid backline with crosses and corners, but they were beaten away with ease by the likes of Dean Huijsen, Antonio Rudiger, and Aurelien Tchouameni. With the win, Real Madrid qualified for the next round, and things finally seem to be settling a bit under Xabi Alonso.

Let's take a look at the Real Madrid vs. Juventus Player Ratings.

Here are Sportsdunia's Real Madrid Player Ratings from Real Madrid vs Juventus Player Ratings:

Goalkeeper:

Thibaut Courtois - 6.5/10

Courtois was largely untroubled in the first half. Made himself big to unsettle Randal Kolo Muani, who chipped it just above the goalpost in the first half.

Defenders:

Antonio Rudiger - 6/10

The defender was pretty slow to react to Kolo Muani's runs for the majority of the game. Other than that, he had a solid game defensively.

Aurelien Tchouameni - 6/10

Played the ball quite well from the back and held the defensive line tightly. Tchouameni didn't shy away from the duels and won many important ones too in and around the box.

Dean Huijsen - 6.5/10

The Spaniard is loving life in Madrid. He's full of energy and always wants to do something with the ball. Huijsen made forward runs, stepped in for crucial interventions, and covered the spaces well.

Midfielders:

Trent Alexander-Arnold - 7/10

Tried to take on Alberto Costa at times but was largely unsuccessful. Arnold made a couple of good runs with the ball and threaded passes at the right moment. Turned provider for Gonzalo Garcia's goal, which gave Real Madrid CF the lead.

Jude Bellingham - 6.5/10

Jude Bellingham was the most lively in the midfield for the Los Blancos. Every time he was on the ball, there was a feeling that something unusual would happen. Twisting and turning his way through at the heart of the midfield, Bellingham made quite a few sleek passes and got into dangerous positions with his darting runs. Missed a great chance in the first half which should have put Real Madrid ahead.

Fede Valverde - 6/10

Fede Valverde is truly the engine of the Real Madrid midfield. The Uruguayan ran his lungs out and tried to win every possible duel. Made a couple of good passes into the danger area.

Arda Guler - 6.5/10

Guler played in a much deeper role than usual. The Turkish midfielder controlled the tempo well by passing the ball around quite seamlessly. Always looked for a forward pass whenever he had the ball at his feet.

Fran Garcia - 6/10

The left back was troubled at times by Francisco Conceicao on the right flank. Misread quite a few passes from Vinicius Junior and was a bit shaky defensively too. Stepped up in the second half and was solid at the back.

Forwards:

Gonzalo Garcia - 7.5/10

Gonzalo Garcia didn't have much to do in the first half. Dropped deep at times to play neat one-twos and pressed the Juventus backline quite well. Scored a beautiful header in the second half from Trent Alexander-Arnold's delicious cross.

Vinicius Junior - 6.5/10

The Brazilian tried to make things happen on the left-hand side with his trickery. Vinicius made quite a few good runs into the danger areas, and his passing was on point as well.

Substitutes:

Kylian Mbappe - 6/10

Luka Modric - 5/10

Dani Ceballos - NA

Manager:

Xabi Alonso - 6/10

Played his usual 3-4-3 with Tchouameni and Valverde acting as the double pivot. The high line was implemented quite well by his three central defenders, although Juve did manage to break that on a few occasions. His team pressed well and looked much calmer on the ball. Made quick reinforcements in the second half to see off the Real vs Juventus game.

Here are Sportsdunia's Juventus Player Ratings from Real Madrid vs Juventus FC Player ratings:

Goalkeeper:

Michele Di Gregorio - 7/10

Made a good save from close range against Jude Bellingham in the first half; was decent with his outing. Got down real quick to save a flurry of shots in the second half but was completely beaten by Gonzalo Garcia's brilliant header. Kept Juventus in the game almost single-handedly.

Defenders:

Pierre Kalulu - 6/10

Pierre Kalulu had a hard time dealing with the threat of Vinicius Junior on the right-hand side as Conceicao had to come down to help his fellow teammate.

Daniele Rugani - 6.5/10

The Juventus faithful had a decent outing at the back, as he kept Gonzalo Garcia in check and cleared numerous threatening crosses from the right flank. Held the defensive line well and was good with the ball at his feet.

Llyod Kelly - 6/10

Kelly had a hard time dealing with Arda Guler as the Turk brought his bag of skills to the game and put it to good use. Trent Alexander-Arnold's runs were a headache for him too, but he was quite alert in clearing away the Englishman's dangerous crosses.

Midfielders:

Alberto Costa - 6/10

Had a hard time dealing with the threat posed by Vinicius Junior. The Brazilian winger got the better of him on numerous occasions, as the Portuguese youngster failed to keep up with his blistering pace.

Manuel Locatelli - 5/10

Had a poor game according to his standards. Manuel Locatelli lost possession many a time in the heart of the midfield and put the Juventus backline under unnecessary pressure.

Khephren Thuram - 6.5/10

Thuram made a couple of good runs with the ball and was instrumental in thwarting quite a few dangerous build-ups from the Los Blancos.

Andrea Cambiaso - 6/10

Andrea Cambiaso put in a decent shift as a wingback, as he was quite alert in both offensive and defensive transitions. The Italian played well against Trent on the right flank but left acres of space behind at times, which Trent and Guler took good advantage of.

Franciso Conceicao - 5.5/10

Tried his best to make something out of nothing on the right-hand side but was largely kept under the careful watch of Fran Garcia. Although he got the better of the Spaniard at times, his passes in the final third were majorly of no use.

Kenan Yildiz - 6/10

Fluffed his lines when presented with a good chance in the first half just outside Real Madrid's penalty area. The Juventus FC midfielder had little to no impact on the team's forward play and lost the ball in important parts of the field.

Forwards:

Randal Kolo Muani - 5.5/10

Kolo Muani should have scored against Courtois early in the game, but his chip shot missed the goal by a few inches. Used his space well to get behind the likes of Antonio Rudiger and got into threatening positions up top.

Substitutes:

Nicolas Gonzalez - 6/10

Filip Kostic - 6/10

Teun Koopmeiners - 5/10

Weston McKennie - NA

Federico Gatti - NA

Manager:

Igor Tudor - 6/10

Igor Tudor also played a three-man back, with two pacy wingbacks trying to stretch the Madrid backline. He set his team up defensively rigid, which was showcased well by his players as they thwarted every Real Madrid attack until the second half. His team's attacking play wasn't quite up to the mark, as his forwards missed too many chances. The midfielders were inconsistent with their press and lost the ball too many times.
