Ukraine 1-2 Hungary Player Ratings: Csinger 8.4/10 as the Magyars Break Ukrainian Hearts With a Dramatic Late Winner

Two minutes. That was the margin between the Ukraine national football team claiming a famous Nations League point and Hungary delivering one of the most dramatic results of the entire international window, Csinger's 85th-minute winner arriving just 120 seconds after Yaremchuk had hauled the Blue-Yellows level and sent City Arena into a state of euphoric, emotional belief that a point had been salvaged. The cruelty of football's finest and most brutal moments was captured entirely in those two extraordinary minutes, Ukraine's joy and Hungary's devastation reversed in the most abrupt and devastating of fashions.

Andrea Maldera's Ukraine, who had arrived in Uzhhorod carrying their perfect Nations League record and the momentum of their commanding win in Budapest, were made to work extremely hard by a Hungary side that showed none of the vulnerability their opening defeat might have suggested. Toth's composed 52nd-minute finish gave Marco Rossi's side the platform their first-half pressing had deserved, a goal of genuine quality that exposed Ukraine's defensive concentration lapses in the most punishing way imaginable and gave the Hungary national football team the belief that a famous Nations League victory was entirely within their grasp.

Roman Yaremchuk's 83rd-minute header, powerful, precise and perfectly timed from Mudryk's whipped delivery, briefly appeared to rescue Ukraine's Nations League momentum and send Maldera's side into the closing minutes with growing confidence. Yet Mark Csinger, introduced from the bench with genuine attacking intent, had the composure, the timing and the clinical quality to break Ukrainian hearts two minutes later with a composed finish that sent Hungary's travelling support into scenes of pure, unreserved celebration and fundamentally altered the complexion of Group C2's promotion race in the most dramatic circumstances imaginable.
