Andoni Iraola - Background and Career
The current Bournemouth FC manager, Andoni Iraola, is a former Spanish footballer who played for Athletic Bilbao for the majority of his career. Additionally, he also played for clubs like New York City FC, Basconia, and Bilbao Athletic. Born on June 22, 1982, in Spain, he played his youth football with teammates like Mikel Arteta, Xabi Alonso, and Aritz Aduriz. Iraola played as a right-back throughout his career and was a decent player, taking his club to the UEFA Europa League and several Copa Del Rey knockout stages.
He started his managing career with Cypriot club AEK Larnaca in 2018 but was unable to win any matches during his two-month tenure and was sacked by the club. He further made a name for himself as a manager with Spanish club Rayo Vallecano and led the club to the last four of the national cup.
The current Bournemouth FC manager started his tenure with the club in 2023 and signed a two-year deal with the club. After having a good run at the club and making it considerable in the Premier League, he extended his contract with Bournemouth till 2026. Iraola also had a magnificent 32-game unbeaten run with Bournemouth in 2024, which was ultimately ended by Manchester City.
