The JFA is the official body that monitors and arranges the smooth functioning of the footballing system in Jordan. The foundation was laid in 1949, and it joined the apex footballing body, FIFA, in 1956. JFA became a member of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) in 1970. It controls the sport of football, especially in competitions like the Jordanian Pro League, Jordanian First Division League, Jordan Women’s Pro League, Jordan FA Cup, Jordan FA Shield, and Jordan Super Cup. The Jordan Football Association has a say in the functioning and execution of games in these competitions.
The JFA has played a key role in pushing men’s and women’s football to new heights in the country. Despite the fact that the Federation is located in Amman, Jordan, two venues serve as the home ground of the Jordan National Football Team. Currently ranked 64th in the FIFA World Rankings, JFA will be ever ready to help the team reach back to the heights of being ranked 37th in August 2004.
The federation has appointed 55-year-old Moroccan manager, Jamal Sellami, as the Jordan National Football Team coach, who has Moroccan domestic clubs while also serving as caretaker and assistant manager for the Morocco National Football Team.
A reputed manager with a nation’s hopes riding on his shoulders, Sellami will be aware of the stakes and the moment of pride it would be for the entire Jordan squad as they represent their country in the upcoming tournament.
Under the management of JFA, the Chivalrous Ones will be desperate to disrupt, upset, and pull off an unlikely result out of their hats and be the sleeper bogey team that showcases the might of Asian football to the world.
Jordan Football Federation was first affiliated with football’s world governing body, FIFA, in 1956 and has been largely insulated from controversy over the years. The team had a dream run during the 2025 FIFA Arab Cup, which took place in Qatar, as they went unbeaten all the way to the finals of the tournament. However, the team stumbled on the final hurdle as they slumped to a 3-2 loss against Morocco, a disappointing end to a promising tournament.
The Jordan National Football Team has won zero Asian Cup titles and has failed to win other competitions despite coming close and finishing as runners-up in tournaments like the WAFF Championship.
The loss in the 2025 FIFA Arab Cup was the closest the Jordan National Football Team came to ending the drought under the stewardship of Jamal Sellami. Star players like Rajaei Ayed, Ali Olwan, and Yazan Al-Naimat bring new hope for the Chivalrous Ones as they gear up for their maiden appearance in the FIFA World Cup. While the golden generation is not here in 2026, the Jordan National Football Team is daring to dream big under coach Sellami in 2026.
