The new BGMI version update is going to arrive in the new year. The BGMI 4.2 update is going to introduce the 'Prime Wood Genesis Mode'. You will get many new features, such as mythical creatures, plants and trees, in this update. This update will have a more nature-oriented theme. BGMI 4.2 Update Release Date

If we go by the past trends, the BGMI 4.2 update will be released by the second week of January 2026. You can expect the mode to arrive on 16th January 2026. Krafton India will announce the official release date of the update in the coming days. In the mean time, you can go through all the features that will be released as a part of this update.

BGMI 4.2 Update Features

From the initial leaks of the Beta version, you will get a castle on the spawn island, which will also be the main hot drop in all the maps. Check the following details here:

Hot Drops

There will be two main hot drops in the BGMI 4.2 update. In Erangel, you are likely to get these drops in the cities of Pochinki and Yasnaya Poliana. Unlike the previous modes, where the hot drops used to be placed in an empty area on the map, in this update, you will find the mode to be part of an already existing city.

Monster Tree

In Pochinki, you will find a special type of 'tree' which will attack your character with a shot-gun-like weapon it shoots from its mouth. You will have to keep a good amount of ammo in your backpack to defeat this ominous tree. Also, ensure you do not stay low hp near it, as it will likely knock you. There will be a bigger 'tree' monster near Mylta, which will come with better loot.

Scorpian

To kill the monster-like tree, you will require the main highlight of this update, the 'Scorpion'. This scorpion will help you ride and also fight. You will be required to blow a special type of horn to do this. The horn will be available as a loot item in all the maps. The scorpion will not only give you free rides but also deal damage with its venom. You can attack the enemy with the Scorpion using its sting. Once the enemy comes in contact with the sting, it will either slow down or lose its HP. You can also make the scorpion attack with its claws.

Tree-Shaped AI Ally

You will get a Groot-like buddy that will revive teammates who gets knocked out. It’s kind of like those past event mascots but way more useful in the heat of battle.

Mythical Mounts

The Divine Deer will let you zip around quickly, has some firepower, and you can expand your inventory, while the Scorpion rides great on tough terrain and nimbly moves with its claw-like features.

Other Features

You will also find a 'seed-like' item as loot, which will help you grow plants in the lobby. You can use them as cover, and they may also give you loot (unsure). You will get 'Wing gear' that will help you fly. There are leaks that this update will also feature like storms, a stealth cloak for vehicles.
