KRAFTON India has announced a new name for its upcoming lightweight battle royale game. Previously known as BGMI Lite, the title has been renamed BGMI Air, as revealed on October 15, 2026. With more than 10 million pre-registrations on the Google Play Store in India already, it's one of the most hyped titles. An Open Beta is also expected soon, although the official release date is yet to be announced. Here is everything players need to know about the upcoming title.

BGMI Lite Gets a Fresh New Name Ahead of Launch

KRAFTON India has renamed its upcoming lightweight game from BGMI Lite to BGMI Air. It is a lighter version of Battlegrounds Mobile India, designed to offer a similar battle royale experience on mid- to low-end smartphones.

Players will be in control of what they download in-game, enabling them to run the game even with storage limitations. Players on BGMI Air will also find opponents from BGMI full version due to the same matchmaking. BGMI Air will also follow the same season, RP and event cycle.

BGMI Lite renamed to BGMI Air won't affect the gameplay in any way. Players with low storage or less capable gadgets will have issues playing the game originally. BGMI Air will help resolve some of these issues. Krafton is expected to announce the system requirements soon.

Krafton has also been adding fresh content to BGMI, including its first original Indian in-game character, Kiaraa.
