Clash of Clans State of Gameplay Part 2 Reveals the Upcoming Balance Changes Arriving This May

4 min
Clash of Clans Balance Changes May 2026

Summary

  • The Clash of Clans Balance Changes May 2026 shake up the meta by rebalancing air troops and heavily boosting ground defense options.
  • The new CWL League Modifier Changes aim to realign the Titan and Legend brackets to ensure a healthier, fairer competitive ladder environment.

Supercell has surprised the community by announcing the upcoming May 2026 update. The developers are drastically changing the game to address the conflict between air and ground strategies.

The new Clash of Clans May 2026 update mainly focuses on rebalancing changes, focused on providing everyone with an equal playing field.

Clash of Clans Balance Changes May 2026: List of Buffs and Nerfs

This update's main objective is to address various troops and equipment that have become overly dominant and need rebalancing. The official Clash of Clans State of Gameplay Part 2 developer blog states the following changes are incoming with the Clash of Clans Balance Changes May 2026

  • The Giant Arrow is the first to go. With the devs boosting Hero Equipment frequently, the Giant Arrow had become severely overpowered at lower Town Hall levels. The Clash of Clans Balance Changes May 2026 update reduces the Giant Arrow's base damage against other structures and increases its damage, particularly against Air Defences.
  • Recently, the Dragon Duke had also been overhauled as it was carrying too much weight in the meta. By reducing the Duke's trap damage mitigation from 50% to 40% and limiting the Fire Heart's regeneration and damage-per-second values, Supercell is reducing its power.
  • The well-liked Sky Waggon is also getting a significant nerf; it will lose an assault barrel, a created minion, and the upgrade level of the troops it deploys will drop by one in every tier.
  • Defences are undergoing a significant overhaul to give ground attacks a fighting chance. At Town Hall 18, the DPS, pool damage, and assault range of the Lava Launcher are being drastically decreased.
  • Conversely, to combat the present air spam, Air Bombs and Roaster are receiving significant upgrades. While the Roaster experiences a huge increase in base damage and burst count, Air Bombs will have a greater strike range and quicker reload times.

Besides the latest Clash of Clans Balance Changes, the Clan War Leagues are also undergoing some major changes. After testing the extended modifier system with the Clash of Clans April 2026 Update, Supercell implemented the modifiers to guarantee fair competition in the Legend Leagues.

The developers have adjusted the layouts applicable to the top tiers using the CWL League Modifier Changes. The Legend II modifier will be adopted for the Titan III and Titan II brackets. Meanwhile, the Legend I modifier environment will be used by Titan I and the Legend League itself.

Introducing the Monolithic New Epic Equipment

Supercell also shared a short glimpse into what's coming new with the Clash of Clans State of Gameplay Part 2 release. The devs are already working on an upcoming event-specific Troop, as well as new gameplay mechanics.

A new Monolithic Epic Equipment is under development, with the Supercell dev team working to introduce more ways for players to earn Ores as discussed in the Clash of Clans Inside the Builder’s Hut Episode 4. The team noted that many players find it difficult to keep up with the never-ending grind for Ores, acknowledging the growing player fatigue regarding the item economy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is Supercell nerfing the base damage of the Giant Arrow in the May 2026 update?

+

Supercell is reducing the Giant Arrow's base damage to stop it from being an overpowered, generic "delete button" across lower Town Hall levels. However, to keep it highly effective at the top tier, they have added a 2x damage multiplier specifically against Air Defenses.
