The Merge Tactics is finally receiving its season 8 update in Clash Royale. As Supercell promised, this season is going to be the “grandest” yet. Featuring plenty of returning troops, a new Ruler, and modifiers, let's check in detail what's coming with the Clash Royale Merge Tactics Season 8 update.

Clash Royale Merge Tactics Patch Notes

The following stuff is coming with the upcoming Clash Royale Merge Tactics update:

New Ruler and Updated Reward Track

As revealed earlier, Supercell finally adds the Clash Royale Grand Warden to Merge Tactics with this update. His abilities allow the user to grant the ally with the lowest HP a random shield at 5 and 15 seconds. The second impact triggers a 3-tile radius upon getting broken in the battle.

There's also a new level-up reward track, the Ruler Reward Track. You can unlock the following rewards from the track by earning Ruler Cards on Starsteel Road:

Dark Warden
Gilded Warden
Blasting Beam (Confetti)
Shadow Loong
Spiral Splurge (Confetti)

Returning Troops

According to the official Clash Royale Merge Tactics Season 8 update, none of the previous troops are leaving the pool in the new Merge Tactics season. In fact, we have a few familiar faces returning, and below is the list of all the returning troops:

Executioner	Throws a boomerang axe at the nearest target across multiple hexes	3
Royal Ghost	Becomes invisible for 3 seconds at intervals	3
Bandit	Dashes to the farthest enemy within 3 hexes, dealing damage and stunning for 1s	4
Princess	Fires flaming arrows at the farthest enemy, dealing AoE damage (2-hex radius)	4

Merge Tactics Season 8 Troops and Traits

Some troops in Merge Tactics will feature unique combinations of traits for Season 8. These traits provide special effects or boosts during battles and will rotate when Season 9 arrives. Season 8 League and Modifiers

Coming straight from Grand Warden's vault, Season 8 of Merge Tactics will feature multiple Shield Modifiers. These are considered similar to Tile Modifiers, but their major advantage is their random shield generation. It works only when battling with Grand Warden. Below are all the Shield Modifiers with the respective leagues in Season 8 of Merge Tactics:

Silver I	3-Star Fantasy	3-star troops: +100% HP, +50% damage
Gold II	Star Shield	Allies level up
Gold I	We Are the Champions	5-elixir troops: +50% HP, +30% damage
Diamond	Lava Shield	Deals DOT: -10% max HP/sec to enemies for 8s
