Team Orangutan Face Backlash After Forgettable Performance at PMGC 2025

Summary
The PMGC 2025 run for Indian champions, Team Orangutan, officially ended on November 30, 2025. The BMSD champions, Team Orangutan, crashed out of PMGC in the group stages and even failed to make it to the 'Last Chance Qualifiers'. The Indian team has since faced widespread criticism from the community for their lacklustre, passive gameplay. Ever since the team faced elimination, some of Orangutan's IGL Aaru's pre-tournament comments have become the topic of debate on social media.
Orangutan had qualified for PMGC 2025 following their dominating victory in BMSD. The team entered the PMGC 2025 Gauntlet stage, high in confidence, determined to qualify for the grand finals. The outcome, however, was starkly opposite to what was expected from the Indian champions.
Team Orangutan Face Backlash After PMGC 2025
Following the team's departure from PMGC 2025, the community has not hesitated to criticise Orangutan's defensive approach. A tweet, congratulating Orangutan for their PMGC participation by @letsgrowesports gained traction on X, and the comments section was filled with a wide range of reactions from the public.
Team Orangutan's IGL, Aaru's PMGC statements were heavily mocked and criticised after the team failed to put up a decent fight in the group stages of the tournament. The community was in no mood to celebrate mediocrity. India's hopes now rely on Infinix True Rippers, who will begin their PMGC 2025 campaign in group red on December 2, 2025.

Community Reacts to Aaru’s PMGC Statements
Orangutan Aaru, the brain of India's best BGMI squad, who is otherwise very precise with the choice of his words in the media, recently made the headlines when he stated that he will hunt down APG Gaming if they drop on OG's location in Miramar.
It's our drop, whoever comes to our drop we will hunt them down!
Aaru said this after the end of match 6 in the PMGC 2025 gauntlet stage. While both OG (11th) and APG (13th) failed to finish in the top 7 in the gauntlet stage, the teams were once again pitted against each other in group green. The tables turned heavily in the group stage as APG topped the group green with 174 points while Orangutan crashed out at 14th spot with just 91 points.
The community pointed out this overconfident approach of the team's IGL and flagged him in the comments. One user highlighted a clip of Aaru's IGL pre-PMGC statements.
Aaru had been very vocal about the playstyle of other regional teams at PMGC. Earlier, he advocated his approach of carrying a similar playstyle to international lobbies and even asserted that he would not change OG's aggressive playstyle at PMGC.
This happens, teams often change their playstyles, rotations, avoid taking fights. I don't want that to happen, just for the sake of performance, my strategy is to play our natural game in a refined way. We will take drop fights and set an example for what Indian teams can do.
However, Orangutan's playstyle at PMGC 2025 was polar opposites to what Aaru had planned. The team avoided fights on multiple occasions; they even avoided fights in situations that were certain to go their way. The team's gun game was poor, and they failed to defend their locations in final circles against the likes of APG, Alter Ego and Tianba consistently in group games. To add to it, the team even drifted from its drop locations in multiple matches. Of the 36 PMGC matches, Orangutan managed to get just 1 win. One user highlighted this in comments and called it ‘Hawabaazi’.
The entire team had huge confidence about winning the whole PMGC 2025, as evident from previous streams. The team had great synergy, strategies, and players, but somehow failed to impress or even ‘make a name’ for India at the biggest stage.
If we dig deeper and analyse the possible reasons for such performance, we will find a common pattern that has been at the roots of most ‘Indian Teams’.
What went wrong for Orangutan at PMGC 2025?
The answer to this question is 'everything'. After a promising start on day 1 of the gauntlet, the team first lost momentum, then their morale and finally their chance of progressing into the finals. While Aaru was excellent with his rotations and held advantageous spots, the team failed to defend due to a lack of gun power. In 36 matches at PMGC 2025, they managed to get just 74 eliminations, which means roughly 2 kills per match, and this is not the blueprint for an 'aggressive team'.
The team lost across 4v4, 4v3 and even 4v2 battles. The players didn't appear to be synchronised, and that cost the team heavily. The team's passive approach was even criticised by the casters on multiple occasions.
