The Indian Premier League (IPL) is slated to start on March 28 and the first game will be between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Now that the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru has got the green signal to host the games, the first match is scheduled there and it will start at 7.30 PM IST.

THIS Rajasthan Royals Cricketer Becomes New RCB Owner

Before the start of the tournament, both RCB and the Rajasthan Royals (RR) have been acquired by two different consortiums ahead of the IPL 2026. Interestingly, Aryaman Birla, who was a part of the RR franchise as a cricketer a few years ago, is now the new RCB owner.
Aryaman Birla Becomes New RCB Owner
Ahead of the IPL 2026, Aryaman Birla is going to be the owner of RCB. He is the son of Kumar Mangalam Birla, chairperson of Aditya Birla Group. Interestingly, Aryaman has played cricket. He was with the RR in 2018 as a player and played for Madhya Pradesh in domestic cricket. He has also shared the dressing room with RCB captain Rajat Patidar and Venkatesh Iyer while playing in the domestic matches.
Now, a consortium led by Aditya Birla Group has acquired the franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru for Rs 1.78 billion (more than Rs 16,000 crore). Aryaman is going to become the chairperson of the richest IPL team and a new era of Aryaman Birla RCB will be seen. Meanwhile, the consortium also consists of Times of India Group, David Blitzer's Bolt Ventures and US-based Blackstone investment group.
In another news, RR is also acquired by a consortium led by Kal Somani, an US based entrepreneur. He has bought the franchise for 1.6 billion. The new franchises will take over after the end of the IPL 2026 to ensure a smooth running of the tournament.
Aryaman Birla’s Career Stats
Aryaman Birla is a left-handed batter who generally bats at the opening position. The 28-year-old batter used to play domestic cricket for Madhya Pradesh and represented the state in nine First-class matches in his career so far. Having played in nine FC matches, Aryaman managed to score 414 runs at a decent average of 27.60. He also has a first-class century which came against Bengal in 2018 in a Ranji Trophy clash.
However, the batter last appeared in a Ranji Trophy match back in January, 2019 and haven’t seen playing again. He was picked by RR in 2018 auction for INR 30 lakh and was part of the franchise for two seasons but couldn’t get to play a single match.
