CSK Rope In Talented Karnataka All-Rounder as Ramakrishna Ghosh Replacement

Five-time champions Chennai Super Kings have announced the replacement for the injured Ramakrishna Ghosh for the ongoing Indian Premier League season. The talented all-rounder, Macneil Noronha, has been drafted into the CSK squad for IPL 2026.

Noronha, who hails from Karnataka, is all set to join the team soon. CSK have already written about Noronha's inclusion to the BCCI and a final approval is pending now. Once all the formalitites are done, Macneil will join the team for the remaining matches.

Macneil Noronha Joins CSK For IPL 2026

According to Cricbuzz, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan informed about Macneil Noronha's inclusion to the team as Ramakrishna Ghosh replacement. The 24-year-old talented youngster is seen as someone who can hit big sixes and can also bowl some useful off-spin.

He has been impressive in the Maharaja Trophy, the local T20 tournament of Karnataka, while playing for Mangaluru Dragons. Due to his performances, he was later called up to Karnataka's squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy as well.

During the 2025 Maharaja Trophy, Noronha scored 253 runs in 13 matches at an impressive strike rate of 149 and 19 sixes. He also impressed with the ball and picked up 10 wickets at an economy rate of 7.44.

Noronha has already impressed a no. of IPL teams so far. This will be a memorable stint for him as he will be joining one of the best teams in IPL. Chennai have a rich history in the league as they are second on the list of most wins in IPL, just behind Mumbai Indians.

CSK Revive After Slow Start

After a slow start, CSK have performed brilliantly to make a comeback. Led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, the team has played well to move up in the IPL points table. They are currently at fifth spot and are in contention for the IPL 2026 playoffs.

Although there are a no. players in of CSK injuries list, the Super Kings now look like a settled unit with players knowing their roles well. The addition of Macneil Noronha will only strengthen this squad which is looking for its sixth IPL title. Their next match is against Lucknow Super Giants on May 15 which will be key for them.
