Kieron Pollard Leaves ILT20 To Be a Part of IPL Auction

Former West Indies' legendary all-rounder Kieron Pollard took a break from the ongoing International T20 League to feature in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction in Abu Dhabi. Pollard is leading the MI Emirates side; however, he is also the batting coach of the five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians (MI).

As a result, he took some time from his busy schedule and decided to help the MI management in picking key players during the auction. It was surprising to see Pollard in the IPL auction 2026 since he is is also the captain in ILT20 2025-26.

Kieron Pollard's Relation With MI Family

Despite retiring from the Indian Premier League ahead of the 2023 season, Kieron Pollard has continued to feature in some of the biggest cricket leagues in the world. He is not just playing, but also kept scoring runs and has also won multiple matches for his teams.

Kieron Pollard in IPL auction is not something new as he was also a part of it last year. Apart from MI Emirates in ILT20, Pollard is also a part of the MI family in Major League Cricket (MLC) and the SA20 League, which shows the trust and loyalty between Pollard and the Mumbai-based franchise.

Kieron Pollard ILT20 break is not long as he will join the MI Emirates squad back tomorrow for the clash against the Dubai Capitals, which will take place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, one of the most beautiful cricket stadiums in the world.

Dinesh Karthik Also Leaves ILT20 To Feature in IPL 2026 Auction

Apart from Kieron Pollard IPL auction 2026 presence, former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik also decided to take a break from ILT20 to help the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) management in the IPL 2026 auction. Karthik is currently serving RCB as a mentor and batting coach. He helped RCB to win the IPL title for the first time in 2025 and will be doing the same in the upcoming season.

Dinesh Karthik was recently in action in the ongoing ILT20, playing for the Sharjah Warriorz, which is also Karthik's first-ever stint in the ILT20. The reason why Karthik is playing in the ILT20 is that he has retired from international cricket. According to BCCI's rule, only retired players who are no longer active on the international platform are allowed to take part in foreign cricket leagues.
