Match Fixing in DC vs GT? David Miller’s THIS Move Sparks Huge Allegation

The 14th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was between the Delhi Capitals (DC) and the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. It was one of the best matches since the game went until the last ball. On winning the toss, DC invited the visitors to bat first and got a target of 211 runs.

While chasing, David Miller was on the crease, but even then, DC lost the match. Following the 1-run loss, the players reacted normally, and social media blew up with allegations of match-fixing.

Was the DC vs GT Match Fixed?

The hosts required 13 runs in the last over when David Miller was on strike and Kuldeep Yadav at the non-striker's end. The left-handed batter hit a huge six of 106 meters off Prasidh Krishna in the fourth ball of the over. Now, DC required just two runs in two balls. However, Miller did not take the run in the penultimate ball, leading to the match-fixing allegations. Fans believe that Miller could have taken the run and let Kuldeep face the last delivery since they would have required just one run then.

The entire controversy sparked major debate on social media, with fans and experts giving their opinion on the matter. Meanwhile, in the last ball, when Kuldeep ran towards the striker's end and was run out, the umpires didn't go to the third umpire to check whether it was out or not. This incident raised a lot of eyebrows as well. In a T20 tournament, it's always mandatory to ask the third umpire regarding run-out decisions until it's clearly visible to the naked eye. Moreover, the players didn't opt for a DRS as well. This sparked the controversy of match fixing in IPL once again, following CSK and RR having already been accused as No 1 fixing team in IPL.

During the post-match presentation ceremony, the Indian cricketing legend, Sunil Gavaskar, cleared the rumour around match fixing. He mentioned..

So you can't fault him for that. He (David Miller) had the confidence that he could do it, but it didn't come off because the ball that Prasidh Krishna bowled was an absolutely superb delivery

David Miller's Fighting Knock Against GT Went in Vain

While chasing 211 runs, DC batters were dismissed early, leaving the team under pressure. Being on the list of most fifties in IPL, KL Rahul scored a scintillating half-century. However, the Delhi Capitals wicketkeeper batsman missed the well-deserved century by just eight runs. After his dismissal, David Miller took the responsibility and started hitting the bowlers.

Despite all efforts, the match went away from their hands, and he looked visibly upset. Miller scored an unbeaten 41 runs. Had he taken the run in the second last ball, the match would have had a different ending.
