Virat Kohli also provided a fiery start, but it was Patidar's unbeaten 93-run knock that stole the show completely. However, the Gujarat Titans’ chase began with an unusual moment involving Sai Sudharsan, the IPL Orange Cap holder of the season. The opener was unfortunately hit wicket, leaving his side in massive trouble.

Sai Sudharsan suffered one of the unluckiest dismissals of IPL 2026 during the RCB vs GT Qualifier 1 match. The left-hander looked in good touch early on and had already smashed three boundaries in his 14-run knock off just nine balls. In the third over, Jacob Duffy bowled a short-of-length delivery outside off stump, which Sudharsan cut past point for a boundary.

However, while completing the shot, Sudharsan accidentally lost grip of his bat. The bat slipped from his hands, bounced behind him, and crashed into the stumps, leading to a bizarre hit-wicket dismissal.

Initially unaware of what had happened, the GT opener even attempted to run before turning back in disbelief after noticing the broken stumps. The wicket handed RCB a crucial early breakthrough during the massive 255-run chase in Dharamsala.
