When Will BCCI Annouce Second Phase Of IPL 2026 Schedule?

The IPL 2026 full schedule is set to be announced very soon, with the Election Commission of India confirming assembly election dates for four states and one union territory on Sunday.

The BCCI is now in a position to reveal the IPL 2026 phase 2 schedule for the remaining fixtures of the season. Earlier, only the first 20 matches were scheduled by the board to prevent logistical challenges in important regions such as West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. As the election schedule is now finalised, fans can expect the announcement of the remaining matches of the richest cricket league in the world in the next couple of days.

When Will IPL Second Phase Start?

The coordination of match security and travel arrangements with the election phases in states with some of the best cricket stadiums in the world, like Eden Gardens (Kolkata) and MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chennai) remained the primary challenge for the BCCI.

But with the announcement of the polling dates, the BCCI might begin with the second phase of IPL from April 13, 2026, as the schedule for the first 20 fixtures till April 12 has already been revealed. Let's have a look at the state election dates:

• Assam: April 9, 2026 (Counting: May 4, 2026)
• Kerala: April 9, 2026 (Counting: May 4, 2026)
• Puducherry: April 9, 2026 (Counting: May 4, 2026)
• Tamil Nadu: April 23, 2026 (Counting: May 4, 2026)
• West Bengal: Two phases on April 23 and April 29, 2026 (Counting: May 4, 2026)

The BCCI can now shift matches to other venues during polling days to keep the tournament running smoothly without affecting public safety or the voting process.

No Change in Venue in Guwahati Even With Assam Elections

According to a report by The Times of India, the BCCI has decided to continue with the IPL 2026 matches in Guwahati without making any changes, even though Assam will have its assembly elections during the same time. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that the venue will host three matches as planned, including games featuring the Rajasthan Royals. One of these matches is scheduled on 10th April, while the polling date is set for April 9.

However, after talks with the Assam state government and local police, the board was assured that proper security plans would be in place to handle both the elections and the IPL matches at the same time.

The officials have worked out a clear plan to make sure there is no pressure in terms of police duty and crowd control. The BCCI is confident that with proper scheduling and support from authorities, the matches will be held smoothly without any issues.
