The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have had a very interesting season this year in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. After a long wait of 18 years, the franchise finally won the trophy on June 3, 2025. Most of the players broke down on the field, including Virat Kohli, who has been with the franchise since its inception. After winning the trophy, the entire state of Karnataka was in an ecstatic mode, and amidst that, a victory parade was scheduled for June 4, 2025.

It wasn't just a victory parade, it was the love of people for the team and the players that brought them to the streets. Since the felicitation ceremony at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, was free, many fans came to watch the trophy and their favourite players. It was a historic moment for RCB and the city, and clearly, the fans couldn't stop themselves from being a part of the occasion.

What Happened During RCB Victory Parade?

Due to a large crowd during RCB's victory parade, a stampede broke out, where many people got injured and 11 fans lost their lives. Following this stampede, the Cubbon Park Police filed an FIR against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), and DNA Entertainment, who were responsible for conducting the IPL in Bengaluru.

As per reports, police have arrested the Marketing Head of RCB, Nikhil Sosale, and the organisers of the event, DNA, and taken them into custody for further questioning. Apart from him, two members of KSCA have also resigned from their posts, taking full responsibility for the unfortunate event. The incident overshadowed the joy of RCB's first-ever IPL victory.

How Can Be RCB banned from IPL 2026?

A moment of happiness has turned into fear and chaos for RCB and their fans. The speculation about ‘RCB banned from IPL 2026’ could turn out to be true. Several reports suggest that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is looking into the matter quite seriously, and if any evidence goes against the franchise, they will be handed a ban of one or two years. However, this news isn't official yet. Considering the number of lives lost, the Board will take strict action against the people who were responsible for the stampede.

The Karnataka State government is also investigating the matter as the CM was present at the spot. IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal has confirmed that the players and the management who were present inside the stadium during the felicitation were unaware of the situation outside the stadium.

Once the news broke to them, they packed up the event quickly. Soon after the ceremony, the CM announced that the families of the deceased will get INR 10 Lakhs compensation for their loss. Moreover, a separate fund was also set up by both RCB and the government for the treatment of the 56 injured fans who were admitted to different hospitals. After a few days, the government increased the compensation to INR 25 Lakhs on Saturday.

However, this compensation might not save the government, as social media has been flooded with posts demanding that the people in power take full responsibility for the unfortunate event that happened on June 4 in Bengaluru. It was a complete management failure as the witnesses mentioned the lack of police officials around the area, along with the negligence in providing medical facilities to the people present there. Now, it would be intriguing to see what conclusions BCCI draws after investigating the matter thoroughly. If the franchise or the management is found guilty, RCB future in the Indian Premier League could be in danger.
