Kristaps Porzingis Injury Report: Celtics Big Man Comes Back in WWE Style

Kristaps Porzingis Injury Update

The Boston Celtics without Jayson Tatum comfortably cruised past in Game 2 of the First Round playoffs against the Orlando Magic. However, the game also resulted in another Celtic injury, this time for their big man Kristaps Porzingis. In the third quarter of the game, Porzingis was left bloodied after taking an elbow from Magic center Goga Bitadze. However, that did not stop Porzingis from backing down at all.

Porzingis briefly returned to the locker room where he received five stitches on his forehead and was seen wearing a bandage. As he returned, the TD Garden erupted for a loud ovation for their center. Porzingis finished the night with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Injuries Couldn't Stop the Celtics and Kristaps Porzingis Back Down From Winning

Without Jayson Tatum, the Boston Celtics were still cruising past the Magic in Game 2 of the first round. The Cs won 109-199 to tie the series 2-0 tonight. However, Kristaps Porzingis' injury looked serious and was reminiscent of the cut he had sustained on his nose during a regular season matchup against the Phoenix Suns in April.

However, upon returning from the locker room, Porzingis had his very own star moment. It was a WWE-style entrance for the Lithuanian which surely excited him the most. “I love my WWE moments, for sure,” said Porzingis, in the post-game interview. “It just happens in the game. I always love engaging with the crowd, I already knew getting hit again, blood again, the crowd was gonna love it…”

The crowd indeed loved it and so did the Cs head coach Joe Mazzulla. “I liked watching him bleed on the court. I think it's important. And then he comes back in and does his job,” said the 2024 championship winning coach.

The Celtics will visit Orlando for Game 3 and 4 and are expected to sweep the series against the Magic. On the other hand, the Magic seem to be struggling against the defending champions and hope to clinch at least the next two games in order to avoid getting swept.
