Conor Gallagher reacts to Chelsea fans’ banner

Conor Gallagher has reacted on social media after Chelsea fans showcased a banner in his support ahead of the 2-0 Premier League win against Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday, May 2. Gallagher started the game against Spurs in central midfield alongside Moises Caicedo. Ahead of the game, the academy product was greeted with a banner by the fans.

A fan club, named We Are The Shed, lauded Gallagher’s journey at the club. After growing through the club’s ranks, he went on a loan spell to Crystal Palace. Gallagher has now become a mainstay in the first team and has often captained Chelsea in Reece James and Ben Chilwell’s injury absences. Gallagher reacted to the admiring banner, writing under the post:

“Thank You.”

Gallagher, 24, has made 46 appearances across competitions for the Blues this season, scoring six goals and providing nine assists. His contract, however, is set to expire at the end of the 2024-25 season. The midfielder is yet to renew and there are reports that the Blues could offload the midfielder in the summer. Chelsea are looking to avoid breaching FF P regulations and selling homegrown players like Gallagher could help the club in that cause as any revenue made from the sale will completely go to the profit column.

Mauricio Pochettino comments on Conor Gallagher’s Chelsea future

Conor Gallagher’s future has been up in the air. Several Premier League clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, have been linked with a move for Gallagher. Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that he isn’t involved in the process and it’s all between the player and the club. Pochettino said (via The Mirror):

“I am not involved. I know nothing. I cannot tell you. I am not involved. That’s a situation they need to fix between the club and the player. He’s an important player of course but I’m not involved in the decision, it’s the club and Conor. I’m not involved, that’s a situation that they need to fix between the club and the player.”

According to Transfermarkt, Gallagher has an estimated market value of 38 million Pounds. Chelsea would reportedly contemplate a sale if any potential suitor meet their valuation of around 50 million Pounds.
