Cristiano Ronaldo sets new Saudi Pro League scoring record

Cristiano Ronaldo defies age to break the Saudi Pro League scoring record with 35 goals. The 39-year-old forward surpassed the old record of 34 goals by Abderrazak Hamdallah in the 2018–19 season.

The former Man United and Real Madrid forward scored twice to guide Al Nassr to a 4-2 win over Al-Ittihad in their final league game of the season.

Ronaldo struck a goal in the first half after receiving a long ball from Mohammed Al-Fatil. He then went on to smash the Saudi League’s goalscoring record in the 69th minute when he converted a header from Marcelo Brozovic’s corner.

Luis Castro’s side will now face league champions Al Hilal in the King Cup final on Friday, 31st May.

How has Cristiano Ronaldo performed for Al Nassr this season?

Cristiano Ronaldo has been in spectacular form for Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr as he registered 64 goals in 69 games for Al-Nassr in all competitions since arriving from Manchester United in January 2023 on a free transfer.

His 2023/24 Saudi Pro League season was filled with crucial moments, as he bagged four hattricks and a red card. Ronaldo was also suspended back in February after expressing an obscene gesture towards Al Shabad fans after they chanted the name of Lionel Messi.

The Portuguese forward has bagged 35 goals and 11 assists in 31 appearances in the Saudi Pro League this campaign. Ronaldo concluded the season with 44 goals and 13 assists in 44 appearances in all competitions.
