Norwich City’s injury

David Wagner issues Norwich City’s injury update ahead of crucial game against Leeds

Despite enduring a tough mid-season collapse in the championship, that saw them drop as low as 17th place, Norwich City fans and their board kept their faith in David Wagner. That eventually paid off as the Canaries produced a comeback in the second of their season, losing just three games in four games since the turn of the year. That pushed them up the table and into a playoff spot as the club finished sixth.

Things could have been better as they ended the regular season winless in their last three games including a 1-0 loss to Birmingham City on the final day. Yet, despite that, David Wagner was pleased that his side finished the regular season with no more injuries. The Canaries have been hit hard by injuries, losing several players over the course of the season.

But with the Canaries set to face Leeds United in their first playoff clash, it has many fans wondering who the club will be without especially after recent controversies. That comes in light of Shane Duffy being charged with drunk driving earlier this week and the club released a statement over the same. Wagner opened up about Duffy and revealed that he trained normally but refused to say anything else.

He also issued an injury update revealing that Jonathan Rowe and Christian Fassnacht are back in training but Ashley Barnes will miss the first leg. Beyond that, the German admitted that his side has no other issues although both Liam Gibbs and Onel Hernandez will miss out.

“Like expected, Fasi and Rowe are back in training. Barnes will miss the first leg. No further doubts. Gibbs and Onel (Hernandez) ruled out,” Wagner said, reported Leeds Live.

“He (Duffy) trained as normal for the full week. The club made a statement, and I dislike speaking about it too much. It’s a legal process that’s ongoing. We will see how the week continues. Everybody is super focused.”
