Premier League releases Player of the Season nominees

The 2023-2024 Premier League Player of the Season nominees have been released and eight players who feature on the list are – Erling Haaland, Phil Foden, Alexander Isak, Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard, Cole Palmer, Olie Watkins, and Virgil van Dijk. The honor holds a prestigious stature in the history of the England top-tier league as it rewards the player with the most consistent and impactful performances throughout the season.

The forward players making the nominee list for Player of the Season

The forward players in the Premier League Player of the Season nominee list include names like Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, and Phil Foden, Aston Villa’s Olie Watkins, and Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak. Haaland has 25 goals and five assists to his tally in his 28 outings in the league this season till now. Foden has also impressed this season with 16 goals and 8 assists in his 32 matches played.

On the other hand, Villa’s Watkins has 19 goals and 12 assists to his name in 35 appearances for Unai Emery’s side so far this campaign. The Toons’ Swedish striker Alexander Isak is not behind by any means in terms of performance after bagging 20 goals and one assist in his 27 matches played in this league season as of now.

The midfielders

The midfielders in the Player of the Season nominee list are – Arsenal’s Declan Rice, and Martin Odegaard, and Chelsea’s Cole Palmer. Declan Rice has stepped up for the Gunners in their title race this season as he looks like a player transformed under Mikel Arteta. Martin Odegaard has never been short of impactful performances for the Londoners as he has often provided the spark to the Gunners in crucial junctures.

When it comes to Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, the 22-year-old has single-handedly transformed the Blues season leading into the closing stages of the campaign. The English midfielder has scored a phenomenal tally of 21 goals and has registered nine assists so far in his 31 appearances for Mauricio Pochettino’s side. Even at such a young age, Palmer has appeared like a player with a vast amount of experience under his belt.

Van Dijk is the sole center-back in the Premier League Player of the Season nominees

Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk completes the 2023-2024 Premier League Player of the Season nominee list via featuring as the only real defensive player to make the cut. The Reds center-back has been pivotal to Jurgen Klopp’s plans this campaign by leading their defensive aspect of the game, much like he has done since joining the English club.
