Lautaro Martinez states his injury issues while playing through the 2022-23 campaign for Seria A’s Inter Milan

Lautaro Martinez inflicted on how he went through the 2023 Champions League final despite being in sheer pain

Lautaro Martinez, the star forward from Seria A club Inter Milan has recently revealed that he played the major chunk of the 2022-2023 season through injury concerns. The very campaign ultimately ended in a heartbreaking loss for Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League final against Premier League side Man City.

Recently being in the USA with the Argentina national team for the Copa America 2024, Lisandro Martinez reportedly discussed his injury problem associated with niggling issues of his foot in the 2022-23 season with the American media. Martinez also hinted towards potentially going in for surgery around the period of the FIFA World Cup 2022.

The 26-year-old further comprehended how he was able to get through the 2023 UCL final despite suffering from pain. “I’m fine now, but the year of the World Cup I was on the verge of having an operation, I was having injections”, the forward stated as ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’ reported.

On that particular UCL final against Man City, he expressed – “I played with anti-inflammatories all year with Inter, even in the Champions League final”. Lautaro Martinez further asserted – “I gritted my teeth and got to the end of the season. But my ankle hurt too much”. Martinez ended the 2022-23 Seria A campaign for Inter Milan with 21 goals and seven assists to his tally. During the same season in UCL, he had three goals and three assists in 13 outings for Inter Milan.
