Richarlison Injury: Brazil Coach Dorival Jr Reveals Omission of the forward From Copa América

Brazil’s preparations for the upcoming Copa América receive a setback as coach Dorival Júnior discloses that Richarlison will miss out on the tournament due to a newly sustained injury.

Richarlison Injury: Why will he not be part of Copa América?

Speaking to reporters, Dorival cited Richarlison’s unavailability, attributing it to a fresh calf injury suffered by the forward during his club commitments.

The absence of Richarlison, along with notable exclusions like Gabriel Jesus of Arsenal and Manchester United’s Casemiro, marks a significant development in Brazil’s squad composition for the prestigious tournament.

Confirming Richarlison’s injury, Dorival stated,

“Richarlison has a calf injury. It has not yet been made official by the club, but we contacted with the player and he informed us.”

When Will Brazil Kick-Off their Copa America Campaign?

As Brazil aims to reclaim Copa América glory, having last triumphed in 2019, the team faces mounting pressure following a disappointing South American World Cup qualifying campaign.

Currently occupying sixth place in the standings, Brazil’s lacklustre performance prompted Dorival’s appointment as head coach in January, signalling a renewed focus on achieving success in regional competitions.

Ahead of the Copa América, Brazil is scheduled to engage in two warm-up encounters against Mexico and the United States on June 8 and June 12, respectively.

The team’s tournament journey commences with a fixture against Costa Rica on June 24, followed by matches against Paraguay on June 28 and Colombia on July 2 in Group D.

With Richarlison’s absence posing a challenge for Brazil’s aspirations, Dorival and his squad face a rigorous test as they strive to make their mark in the upcoming tournament amid heightened expectations and scrutiny.
