Teams like Mumbai, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Punjab were looking strong, and all of them were fighting for the top spots. However, Jharkhand came as the top side of the tournament.

18. Jharkhand | 2025

One of the best wicket-keepers in India led Jharkhand to finally get their hands on their 1st ever T20 trophy. Ishan Kishan shines on the eve of the final as he scored a blistering century, scoring 101 in just 49 deliveries. They remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, showcasing their sheer dominance in the league.

17. Mumbai | 2024

Mumbai won their second title last year. They defeated Madhya Pradesh in the final. Shreyas Iyer led the team. Suryansh Shedge played a fast innings of 36 runs to change the game. Ajinkya Rahane was the top scorer of the tournament.

16. Punjab | 2023

Punjab won their first title after losing many finals before. They beat Baroda by scoring a huge total. Mandeep Singh was the captain. Anmolpreet Singh scored a brilliant century in the final.

15. Mumbai | 2022

Mumbai won their maiden title by defeating Himachal Pradesh by 3 wickets at Eden Gardens. HP scored 143/8, and Mumbai chased 146/7 in 19.3 overs where Sarfaraz Khan played a crucial knock of 36* and Tanush Kotian took 3/15.

14. Tamil Nadu | 2021

When we talk about the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Winners List, how can Tamil Nadu be left out? They defeated Karnataka in a dramatic SMAT 2021/22 final led by Vijay Shankar.

Shahrukh Khan hit a six on the last ball to claim the title. It was one of the best finishes ever in the history of SMAT.

13. Tamil Nadu | 2020

Tamil Nadu reclaimed the trophy with a 7-wicket win over Baroda at Ahmedabad. Baroda were restricted to 120/9 as Manimaran Siddharth took 4/20, and Tamil Nadu chased 123/3 in 18 overs with stable contributions from Hari Nishaanth and Baba Aparajith.

12. Karnataka | 2019

Karnataka defended their title by beating Tamil Nadu by just 1 run at Surat in one of the closest finals ever. Karnataka made 180/5 led by Manish Pandey’s 60*, and Tamil Nadu ended at 179/6 despite a great fight from Vijay Shankar and Baba Aparajith.

Karnataka started their strong run in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Winners List by defeating Maharashtra by 8 wickets at Indore. Maharashtra scored 155/4, but Karnataka chased it easily in 18.3 overs with Mayank Agarwal scoring 85*.

10. Delhi | 2017-18

Delhi joined the SMAT Winners List by beating Rajasthan by 41 runs at Eden Gardens. Delhi made 153/6 with Unmukt Chand scoring 53, and Rajasthan were bowled out for 112 as Delhi bowlers dominated.

9. East Zone | 2016-17

In the special Inter-Zonal edition, East Zone became champions after winning all four league matches. They defeated West Zone by 8 wickets while chasing 150 in only 13.4 overs, with Virat Singh scoring 58* and Ishank Jaggi hitting 56.

8. Uttar Pradesh | 2015-16

Uttar Pradesh won their first title by beating Baroda by 38 runs at Wankhede Stadium. UP scored 163/7, and Baroda could reach only 125/7 as UP bowlers controlled the match easily. Captain Suresh Raina played a match-winning innings in the final. Hardik Pandya was the best player of the tournament.

7. Gujarat | 2014-15

Gujarat became two-time Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Winners after defeating Punjab by 2 wickets at KIIT Stadium, Bhubaneswar. Punjab managed 117/9 with Rohit Dahiya taking 4/15, and Gujarat chased 123/8 with a ball to spare thanks to Smit Patel’s unbeaten 50.

6. Baroda | 2013-14

Baroda won their second title by beating Uttar Pradesh by 3 runs at Wankhede Stadium. They scored 144/7, and UP fought well but ended at 141/7, making it another close finish in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Winners List.

5. Gujarat | 2012-13

Gujarat became the first-time champions in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Winners List after beating Punjab by 6 wickets at Indore. Punjab reached only 122/8 as one of the best bowlers in the world, Jasprit Bumrah, took 3/14, and Gujarat chased 128/4 comfortably in 17.5 overs.

4. Baroda | 2011-12

Baroda lifted the trophy by defeating Punjab by 8 runs at Brabourne Stadium. Baroda scored 149/6 with Pinal Shah scoring 39, and Irfan Pathan delivered a strong all-round performance to stop Punjab at 141/8.

3. Bengal | 2010-11

Bengal added their name in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Winners after winning by just 1 run against Madhya Pradesh at Hyderabad. Bengal posted 142/7, and MP came very close but finished at 141/8 in a thriller.

2. Maharashtra | 2009-10

Maharashtra entered the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Winners List by beating Hyderabad by 19 runs at Holkar Stadium, Indore. Maharashtra made 119 in a low-scoring match, and their bowlers did the job by bowling out Hyderabad for 100 runs, with Digambar Waghmare scoring 29.

1. Tamil Nadu | 2006-07

Tamil Nadu became the first team in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Winners List after defeating Punjab by 2 wickets at Brabourne Stadium. Punjab scored 134/8, and Tamil Nadu chased 135/8 with only 1 ball left, where Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan and Dinesh Karthik played important roles. Even though Punjab lost, their player Karan Goel played very well.
