During the Asia Cup 2025 Super Four match on Sunday, emotions increased as India opener Abhishek Sharma got into a violent argument with Pakistan bowler Haris Rauf. During the fifth over of India's run chase, Rauf and Abhishek engaged in a verbal sparring match that forced umpire Gazi Sohel to step in and break up the altercation. After hitting a boundary on the last ball of the fifth over, Shubman Gill even joined in, shouting something to Rauf. Gill and Pakistani bowler Shaheen Afridi had earlier been embroiled in a heated argument on the pitch.

Even though Abhishek and Haris had previously spoken throughout the over, emotions escalated following the over's last ball. Abhishek Sharma seemed to speak to Haris Rauf as Gill hit a superb jab through mid-wicket for four on the last ball. As the disagreement heated up, Rauf pointed a figure at the Indian opener. This led to a huge altercation between Abhishek and Rauf which carried on for a few seconds.

The Abhishek Sharma Haris Rauf heated argument went on for a few seconds till the umpires had to intervene. India's youngster didn't back down despite Haris pointing his finger at him. Abhishek was all fired up and kept thrashing Pakistani bowlers apart. He was well supported by Gill at the other end.

Shaheen Afridi and Shubman Gill engaged in a verbal sparring match just a few overs prior, with Gill coming out on top. As everyone is aware, the ongoing border dispute between India and Pakistan has already created the conditions for a heated Asia Cup matchup between the two nations.

Pakistan complained of unfair treatment by match referee Andy Pycroft, which sparked a lot of talk about a possible boycott, while India chose not to shake hands with their Pakistani counterparts and publicly commended their military for their valor during Operation Sindoor. By the tenth over, India had reached 105/1 thanks to a 105-run partnership between Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill. Both openers started a vicious onslaught, but the Indian openers grabbed the show throughout the pursuit.

The tone of the game was established as they stitched a 105-run partnership at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Notably, the Indian and Pakistani players engaged in verbal sparring on several occasions, while the Men in Green, who had been smashed in the second innings, had nothing to say in the middle.

By the time Gill was out for 47 runs, India had already taken over the game. Abhishek carried on with his merry way and kept thrashing the Pakistani bowlers out of the park. India lost some key wickets towards the end but Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya ensured the Men in Blue win the match without much hiccups.
