Australia Playing XI Announced For Womens World Cup 2025

The preparations for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 are in full flow as the teams have been putting in hard yards in net sessions. India will play the tournament opener against Sri Lanka, and then all the other teams will be seen in action too.
One of the favourites to win the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 will be the Australia women’s cricket team. The Alyssa Healy-led side has been in staggering hot form and is also the defending champions. They would be keen to defend the title and win their second consecutive trophy. One of the best cricket teams in the world, Australia, will be heading into the tournament high on confidence. They beat India in the three-match WODI series just ahead of the tournament. They would be keen to carry on that confidence and prove their worth in the World Cup as well.
Meg Lanning Picks the Australian Playing XI for the ICC Women’s World Cup
With the ICC Women’s World Cup around the corner, former Australian cricketer Meg Lanning picked Australia’s playing XI for the tournament. According to her, Alyssa Healy and Phoebe Litchfield should continue opening the innings for Australia.
She feels that Australia have a strong batting lineup and one of the most famous female cricketers, Ellyse Perry, Beth Mooney, and Ashleigh Gardner will be there in the middle-order. She believes that the trio can bring both stability and firepower.
She also wants Beth Mooney to do the finisher’s role with Ashleigh Gardner, Annabelle Sutherland, and Tahlia McGrath. These all-rounders will be extremely important for Australia in the tournament as they are expected to play a huge role with bat and ball.
For the bowling department, the fastest centaurion in women's ODI cricket, Meg Lanning, feels that Australia will take a look at the conditions. She suggested that if there will be enough for fast bowlers, then Darcie Brown and Kim Garth should play.
“I think the conditions will play a big part. Is it going to spin a lot? You know, therefore we might play an extra spinner, but if we feel like there’s enough there for the quicks, then you’ve got Darcie Brown and Kim Garth to come in,” she said on ICC review.
