The Australian Cricket Team has suffered a massive blow ahead of the start of the ODI series against the Indian Cricket Team. All-rounder Cameron Green has been ruled out of the entire series due the side soreness. The India vs Australia ODI Series will kick start from 19 October in Perth, followed by the last two matches in Adelaide and Sydney on 23 and 25 October, respectively. Green’s injury will leave a massive void in the Australian team, especially with them already being without some key players.

Cameron Green joins Adam Zampa (paternity leave), Josh Inglis (injury), and Alex Carey (domestic cricket) in the Australian squad, who will be missing the first ODI against India. Green was expected to play a major role in the series, but got injured.
Why is Cameron Green Ruled Out?
According to Cricket Australia, Green suffered ‘side soreness’ and hence was deemed unfit to play, keeping in mind the Ashes 2025-26. The injury, as per CA, is ‘low grade’ and they have taken the ‘precautionary’ call. But they expect the all-rounder to play the third round of the Sheffield Shield, from October 28-31.
“Green will complete a short period of rehabilitation and is tracking to return to play in round three of the Sheffield Shield to continue his preparation for the Ashes," CA said in a statement this morning. Green, who returned to cricketing action after a while during the T20I series against New Zealand, would be keen to get fit as soon as possible. He will be key for Australia in the greatest rivalry in cricket, Ashes 2025-26, which will begin on 21st November with the first game in Perth.
Marnus Labuschagne Joins as Replacement
With Cameron Green ruled out, CA added Marnus Labuschagne as the replacement in the squad for the three-match series. He was added to the team based on his heroics in the domestic circuit. The right-hander slammed three consecutive hundreds in the domestic circuit and would be keen to make the opportunity count. The series will also be important for him in the context of the Ashes, as he was recently dropped from the test side owing to poor form.
Recently, Australia also added Josh Philippe and Matthew Kuhnemann to the team in place of Josh Inglis and Adam Zampa. The team will be captained by one of the best all rounder in the world, Mitchell Marsh, but with key players being out, it will be a big challenge for them to win the games against star star-studded Indian side.
