Complete SA20 Squads After Auction: Captains & Players List

The SA20 Season 5 auction has reshaped the six franchises ahead of the 2027 season, with several high-profile names changing teams and a number of promising young South African players earning bigger opportunities. The auction was held in Johannesburg on October 7, with 156 players shortlisted for 19 available slots.

Four teams, Joburg Super Kings, MI Cape Town, Pretoria Capitals and Sunrisers Eastern Cape participated, while Durban’s Super Giants and Paarl Royals had already completed their squads.

Joburg Super Kings made the biggest splash, bringing Faf du Plessis back and signing Kieron Pollard, while 18-year-old Jason Rowles became the auction's most expensive player at R2.9 million.

MI Cape Town added Wiaan Mulder, Trent Boult and Shimron Hetmyer, while Pretoria Capitals strengthened their squad with Rassie van der Dussen and Temba Bavuma. Meanwhile, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, the defending champions, added Nandre Burger and Craig Overton.

With all six squads now finalised, the tournament has a strong mix of established international stars, experienced Proteas players and emerging talent. The new season is scheduled to begin on January 17, 2027.
